Can anyone tell me if it is "standard procedure" for a book to call you to verify your personal information, such as name, address, etc. I just went to deposit at a book and it said that I had to call their CS before I was allowed. I am not a new customer so I went to their online chat to find out what was going on.

They told me that they had to call the number that I had listed in my profile to verify my info. This is the first time this has happened to me with any book. I verifyed the info through the chat so I could deposit, but they still told me that they needed to call the number to verify. Has this happened to anyone else before?

With all the fraud out there they are just taking extra precautions.Protects them as well as you.If everything is legit there should be no problems in verifying.

Well said. I've never heard of this before (at least not when the actual purpose wasn't to make sure that you deposited ASAP), but it makes perfect sense.

Thank the scammers.

Book owners scam too. Should I have the right to know the real names and telephone #s of the owners before I deposit with them?

I agree with what you said, I just thought it was odd. They told me that they had to verify all information for "new customers" even though I told them I was not a new customer.

Because of the risk of fraud (regarding the deposits of course), every book should have procedures to make sure that the customer is who they claim they are (and preferably do it when they deposit past a certain limit NOT just when they want to cashout)

Good Question!!!

Tenman,

That is a great question, and one I will be happy to address. Actually, wolfiecr pretty much nailed it on the head here. Thanks, Wolfie.

There are a few reasons we do this, Tenman. One is that it helps us prevent any credit card or e-check fraud from occurring. Before a client can attempt to make a credit card or e-check deposit, we verify that all his information is accurate. This prevents clients from using stolen credit cards or invalid e-checks.

Also, as we continue to offer some of the most generous bonuses on the net, as well as a great variety of bonuses and -107 starting this football season, we have found that there are quite a few folks out there who are interested in posing as someone else. This enables them to open multiple accounts, receiving our 50% bonus at every opportunity. One of the many steps we take to prevent this, is to validate your information. There are other reasons, but I think those two are the most important.

The good news is that we only call you that one time. If you would like to make sure that we do not call you or send you any promotional material (hats, shirts, post cards, golf balls, etc...) simply let us know at your earliest convenience and I will make sure we take your name off of our calling and mailing lists. Tenman, welcome to the Sportbet.com family. I am more than confident you will enjoy our daily promotions, great bonuses and our GUARANTEED PAYOUTS in less than an hour or they are FREE. If you would like to discuss this issue, or any other issue involving Sportbet.com or IslandCasino.com, I would be happy to take any calls from you. I can be reached at 800-214-9666 or at Jake@sportbet.com.

Thank you for your time, gentlemen. Have a great week!!

Dante,

Thank you for the question. We generally like to make sure all the information is valid, regardless of the method of deposit. With such a large variety of deposit methods, a client might use Neteller the first time, but E-check the second time and Firepay the third, etc... Getting the information validated at the start prevents any holdups come payout time. As my poppa always told me, "why wait for tomorrow when you can get it done today?" (apologies to Dad, as I am know that is not exactly how he says it, but we are in a public forum...lol)

Jake:

How much action do you require for 1000 golf balls? :103631605 My local course has put this annoying Water Hazard on the 8th hole... the green is like an island... losing about 10 a week at the moment!

So this is something that you just recently started because I played with you guys in the past (probably a year or longer ago) and I never had to do this at that time.

I have been with SportBet for a few weeks now and am happy thus far (no payout requests) to hear you are moving to -107 for football is music to my ears....you might become a TOP book at that point! Will that be for ALL football games Jake? Basketball also? Thanx....

I prefer no type of verification just because it is a pain in the ass. I'm internet only and don't call bets in. THat being said it is a breath of fresh air to see that Sportbet asked for the info BEFORE that deposit and not when you cash out. No problem with that at all.
