I am planning to visit your city for my first Great Northwest Adventure when my Tigers visit Husky Stadium to open the season. (can't wait)

I am staying downtown and know of all the touristy places like Pike's place, Pioneer Sq etc BUT where is the best places to listen live music for a 40 something guy that still likes to rock?
Also concerning Husky Stadium, I don't have tickets yet, should i wait until closer to gameday to purchase (from StubHub etc) or will they sell out fast? And finally, The stadium appears to have a large cover over the seats, is it better to be lower in the upper section or is there much difference? I am trying to get the best seat for the best price but I am not going to pay $200 plus for a seat so i know I'll be in the upper section.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

stadium is pretty old...if you buy upper section you can look out on to Lake Washington which is pretty scenic...also, go check out the jimi hendrix experience down by the space needle, but it closes at 5 pm so make sure you get there early on friday...also, they serve booze at the top of the space needle so it's not a bad place to go after the hendrix project to have a local brew and watch the sunset over pudget sound from a thousand feet up

I've been going to Husky games for over 20 years, and have bought scalp tickets many times. I've found it is much easier to find good tickets about two hours to ninety minutes before game time. If you wait until right before kickoff, you will end up with seats in the highest part of the upper deck. Trust me, you don't want seats up there. So, if you do decide to buy tickets out front, you should definatly go early.

But, I think you should see what you can find on Stubhub or Craigslist and try to buy tickets before you get here. I feel demand for this game will be very high. The Huskies have a new coach, and it is a week # 1 game against a big non-conference opponent. It will most likely sell out.

Click on the link below for a good map of the stadium.

My Dad has season tickets in the upper part of section 18. Not the best seats, but the thing I like most about them is the easy in and out access, as everyone has to head west to leave the stadium. The few times I sat on the east side, it took forever getting out of there. You want tickets on the west side.

I think you should look to buy tickets in the upper part of the lower bowl where most of the LSU fans will be sitting. That is roughly sections 8 and 10. It won't be the greatest view, but it will be all LSU fans. The band and cheerleaders will be right there. Sections 4, 6, 12, and 14 will be about a 50/50 split among fans. Start looking in the upper part of sections 12 a 14. If you want better seats, look in sections 16, 18 and 20. $80-$120 per ticket will be a good deal for this game.

How will you be arriving to the game? Rental Car?

I've been looking for two tickets to the LSU game on Stubhub.....you are going to get raped. This team didn't win a fucking game last year. Yes, THEY DIDN'T WIN A SINGLE FUCKING GAME....yet a good seat for the game is going for $250. Get the fuck out of here.

The lower the better but it's going to cost you a pretty penny.

Wow! That's a lot. Is that for 40-50 yard line lower level?

I knew demand would be high for this game. Big non-conference games in September always are. The Huskies haven't hosted an SEC team in 30 years.

As the season goes on and they start to lose, it's way easier to get good seats at a fair price. Not for this game, though.

Well, if that's the case, also look for tickets in the upper part of sections 17, 19, 21 and 23. If you don't mind sitting near the Husky student section, which is the lower part of roughly 17-31. I've sat there before, decent seats. Only buy tickets in the upper deck as a last resort.

The large cover you asked about casts a huge shadow on the field and blocks the sun. The South side of the Stadium is the alumni side and is much more shady. The North side of the Stadium is the student side and gets all the sun. That shouldn't matter too much for this game, as it is a 7:30pm start time.

How will you be arriving to the game? Or, have you not decided that yet?

The stadium is rather old and in need of some major work, but it is a beautiful setting. Being a USC alum, I have been to several games up there, and the visitors seats are not that bad. I would not pay that rediclous amount of money for a game that will be nationally televised.

You gotta be in good shape to sit in the upper deck of that stadium.

Kinda like walking the streets of Seattle..........steep grade.

I will be at this game as well. Fortunately my inlaws have excellent seats. All good advice here, I would only offer that you should have NO problems getting decent seats from a scalper. There will be a lot of scalpers right in front of Hec-Ed Pavillion or now called Bank America center, the husky Bball arena adjacent to the stadium. Just make sure to bring a seating chart with you. There are some very low seats that will have you staring at the players backs so be carefull there as well. Also make sure to avoid seats in the far endzone off the water. These are the crappiest of crap seats that are actually fenced off the stadium.

If I were an out of town visitor I would look into going to the game via boat. There are several restaurants on Lake Union that offer a boat shuttle. You just get to the restaurant a few hrs before game. Get some food drinks then hop on the boat. I've never done this for an evening game but I have for afternoon games. It is a unique experience.

yeah, those endzone seats don't give you a view of the Lake as well, which are as scenic as it gets at a college game...great suggestion taking the boat to the game, they're all docked right outside the stadium and you can probably party on them there and back

Thought I would expand on the boat idea a bit:

The boat that I have taken most often is from Ivar's Salmon House 206.632.0767
http://www.ivars.net/index.php?page=locations_salmonhouse

It comes from Lake Union which is just about a 10 minute boat ride. There will be a bar on board the boat but the bulk of your partying will occur at the restaurant.

From the picture below you will see a drawbridge in upper left hand corner, this leads to lake Union where the restaurant is. You can also see in this pic the endzone seating nearest to the water, avoid this section at all costs.

If you plan on tailgating at the stadium plan on going very early. The lot that you see to the left is for Donors only, there is a public parking to the right of the green smokestack that you can see to the right of the stadium which is not a very far walk. But the tailgating atmosphere here will fail in comparison to what you are used to in the south.

Fill up on whatever food you may need before the game, the concessions in stadium are the worst.
Lastly, you should be treated very well by fans here unless you make the mistake of wearing an Oregon hat. They will be very loud in the beginning of the game and will maintain that if they see that the team can be competitive. If this happens depending on where you sit it could get loud. I hope for LSU's sake that they are properly prepared for this, the team that they see in films should be a vastly better unit come gameday.
Bring Binolulars because if you are in the upper sections you will be a LONG way from the field.

For nightlife plan on spending your evening in Pioneer Square. There are about 20 apoprox bars in the area with various scenes, plenty will have live music but a few may be a bit young for your tastes.

UoweDucks,
Thanks for the info. I am definitely going to check out the boat transportation. Sounds very enticing. I also know from previous research that Pioneer Square is the place for music.
Lastly, I am staying away from stubhub. I actually bought tics Mon from the box (high in the clouds). If I come on better deal (any takers?) I will sell or eat these tics (with a little cajun hot sauce) if really good seats are offered.
I can't wait for this trip and CFB in general to start...I'm starting to feel a tingle!:):)
