Proposal for dealing with out-of-hand PGWE posters

I have some ideas for how to handle Doc et al.

First, I'm not a fan of censoring speech, so you'll have to be pretty nasty to make me delete anything.

And I think we all mostly agree that it's not fair to create thread and post limits for everyone because we have a single problem spammer. This would also not be a good business move for the Rx; nor can VBulletin automate such a task ... so a manual count of each post and thread???? Not realistic.

So, absent banning posters for spamming, here's what I'm thinking:

Posters routinely spamming end up in the Dog House. To get there, a majority of posters in this forum (50% +1) must put you there. Once there, you are limited to 5 threads a day, 20 posts a day. The forum will vote to let you out of the dog house, once a week for as long as you're in there.

Thoughts?

Solely for the idea... not the dog house. However, I do think their will be a dog house or two ote coming up here shortly.

X its simple to see who has started a thread. I don't see the problem with a thread count. Doc and I already agreed to it yesterday.

ps Somebody please quote this she has me on ignore......not sure why BTW never reallt chatted to her.

You're not on my ignore list, TRS.

It's not about it being difficult to see who started a thread, but you have to imagine the amount of work it would take to go through each person, verify what forum the post/thread was in, etc. VBUlletin can't do it automatically, so having to hand-count each poster's threads and posts would be tough. If I'm limited to only those posters that the rest of the forum has put on the shit list, it's not so bad.

Plus, it's just not good business sense to have a forum and limit everyone's participation in it because one or two people get carried away.

I'm as much in favour of scrapping thread/posts limit at all and just move/merge/delete as necessary. I only came up with this alternative because of the thread voting on limiting the entire forum.

Panda, I'm sure you can identify spam when you see it and deal with it accordingly: delete, merge etc. No need to implement any rules across the board.

Actually, I like the dog house idea and support whatever you decide. We were trying to come up with an acceptable solution yesterday.

Dog house, aka Poo Poo Poly Exile. LOL seems like a good compromise that works for the person doing the task and effectively does incorporate a thread limit without punishing the rest Yes vote here

I agree with joe...its like porn you know it when you see it....This "I can post this because its free speech" shit is bullshit.....yelling fire in a crowded theatre isn't free speech and never was....30 four foot redundant spams a day is not free speech.
Use your good judgement like everyone knows you have and we'll get by.i don't think anybody is asking for perfection from you or posters.

I would make it a rule that if you post spams you MUST post sources,including dates whenever possible.
