"I shot a pair of 80's and went home. One of the hardest courses I ever played." said Steve Flesh about Oakland Hills...

The 18th hole is a severe dogleg-right and has been the hardest hole at Oakland Hills, now they have added two bunkers to make it 4 bunkers on each side of the fairway...the drive is so intimidating that it made for one of the worst tee shots of Mickelson's career at the 2004 Ryder Cup...Teamed with Tiger Woods and tied with Clarke and Westwood in an alternate shot, Lefty stepped up to the 18th tee and hit a wild slice that hit an out of bounds fence miles off the fairway..Woods fixed his partner with a none-too-subtle glare, and team USA made double bogey 6 and lost the match....this hole is one of the reasons Lefty and Tiger aren't buddies....

My prediction is if the weather cooperates that -7 will win it.

If the weather wasn't going to be perfect(80 every day+no wind with a hint of rain), I was going to play over 279 +40. The degree of difficulty of Oakland Hills since they lengthened it, has gone way up.

If anyone shoots 273(par 70 with only 2 par fives) I will be shocked!

Doesn't the PGA Tournament as a rule set up their course a little easier than the other USGA majors?

GoSooners, you are right, but this year they have rough and a monster. If they don't keep the greens at a decent speed, some players won't finish. I talked to a caddy today. Good Luck

Goosen for me...The course unlike the US Open will be the same all weekend as it is the first 3 days of the week..no extra/less watering, no shorter cuts etc etc. It is what it is today and that be TOUGH!

The more I look at I like Westwood in some matchups. Could this be the week Rail finally gets one correct?

I put a couple of hundred on Kim to win.

Paul Casey +4200. He made a triple bogey(4 putts) on #1 last week, and shot 65 on Sunday to finish t8. Has Ryder Cup experince on this course and has contended in a couple of majors. Sounds good?

The PGA has been dominated by the USA. Except for South Africa(Player, Price), Australia(Grady, Elkington), and Singh(Fiji), that's about it.

Oakland Hills Superintendent under the direction of the PGA claims they have set the course to play incredibly difficult. He predicted a score of even or higher to win the tourney.

anyone interested in doing this pool?? I will post more info if you want. Cost is $20 Winner will pay around a G

This pool runs the same format as the other golf tournaments we've participated in this year. You will select five golfers and cannot exceed a salary cap of $5. I have listed salaries of golfers below. Any golfer not listed has a salary of $0. You must select exactly five golfers. The winner of the pool will be the person with the best cumulative score of his or her five golfers. If your golfer misses the cut, his score will be doubled to compensate for the Saturday and Sunday round, and an additional three-stroke penalty will be assessed. So if your golfer misses the cut at a +10, you get +23 for that golfer.

Here are the salaries. You cannot exceed $5 total and you must pick exactly five golfers. Picks due 2am on Wednesday. Good luck!

$4 Phil Mickelson
$4 Sergio Garcia
$4 Padraig Harrington
$3 Ernie Els
$3 Jim Furyk
$3 Adam Scott
$3 Vijay Singh
$2 Anthony Kim
$2 Geoff Ogilvy
$2 Retief Goosen
$2 Stewart Cink
$2 KJ Choi
$1 Kenny Perry
$1 Lee Westwood
$1 Henrik Stenson
$1 Justin Rose
$1 Robert Karlsson
$1 Trevor Immelman
$1 Andres Romero
$1 Miguel Angel Jimenez
$1 Mike Weir
$1 Stephen Ames
$1 Ian Poulter
$1 Justin Leonard

All other golfers are free. Picks due 2am Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

I just heard that Kenny Perry has a scratched cornea...The doctor told him he can't wear contacts for two weeks...But the problem is Perry said he can't play without them...Tough break.
