Since I don't know anything about Business I thought I would Poll the Forum and see. Here is the Question:

Should businesses be forced by the Government to pay Unemployment Insurance in case of an economic downturn so Employees can pay their bills still. or Should the laid off employees just "Quit Bein Lazy asses and Find another Job" as Republicans often say.

that's the way it is already. i don't agree with extending benefits. if a person hasn't found a job after 6 months he's not really trying.

Who in the hell do you think pays for it?

Some people (rolltide) say that the Government SHOULDNT force businesses to pay anything including Unemployment Insurance. So if they lay someone off.. too bad, go find another job..

unemployment was intended as a saftey net. if you quit your job, your employer doesn't have to pay you. if are are fired or laid off, then they do. depending on which state you're in, you are required to apply for a couple jobs each week and prove it. of course, it's not that hard to find two employers who won't hire you, which is why i disagree with extending benefits is because it's easy to take advantage of them.

Yeah Mcdonalds and Gas Stations and Wal-marts are always hiring right? and if you got laid off right now you think you could find a job that pays close to what you are making now within 6mos.. No problem?

wrong. especially wrong in todays environment when nobody is hiring and everyone is losing their jobs. there will be jobs when the employers have money to hire them.

the point is. you bash it, and then when your in a tough spot you would go to it like anyone else would. you try to put yourself above it, but arn't willing to admit you would use it if you needed it.

Its kind of funny GTC. I live in one of the most Red states in the Nation.. Is what gets me is all of the people on Medicaid and welfare that use the system and still vote Republican..Both the people that use it correctly and the people who take advantage of it -single Mormon moms with 7 kids and no insurance... Hellooooo!! Hello! shoot yourselves in the foot and vote Republican..

i think i said quite clearly that i would use it if needed. as a matter of fact i drew unemployment in 2000. i don't see where this is much of a controversial subject.
