From the Free Republic, Michael Reagan:
A new poll reveals that 62 percent of all Republicans say they’re happy, while only 50 percent of Democrats make the same claim, meaning that the other 50 percent of leftists are less than happy.
Moreover, fully seven percent of Democrats admit to being downright unhappy, where only 3 percent of Republicans put themselves in that category.
There has to be a reason for this. Over at NewsMax.com, my friend Phil Brennan says Democrats cannot be happy until they create a Utopian society – which will never happen, because there is no such place as Utopia and never will be.
I have a slightly different reason for why happiness is so elusive for Democrats: they can only be happy when they are either taking or giving away other people’s money, and once they do that they become unhappy until they find new ways to spend or collect taxpayer funds.
They are unhappy because they believe that happiness can only be achieved through government programs and government action. They don’t believe that people can do anything for themselves – they need the nanny state to look after all their needs and wants. Unlike Republicans, who take care of their own problems, Democrats want somebody else to take care of their dilemmas, and they are not happy until someone does. And the happiness lasts only until they need something else. If Republicans need a job, they go out and find one, orthey keep trying until they do. Finding it keeps them happy. Democrats think somebody else – meaning the government – should find or even create jobs for them, and they aren’t happy until they are handed a job on a silver platter. Then they become unhappy when the job doesn’t satisfy them and go looking for someone in the government or the courts to make their job more pleasing.
Democrats are happy when they can send somebody a government check or collect one. They think everybody should get a government check, and when everybody doesn’t get a government check, they are unhappy.
For Democrats, happiness is like a drug addiction. They feed that addiction by getting money from the government they should earn by themselves, getting jobs they should find for themselves, and creating or benefiting from countless government programs designed to do things for them they should do for themselves. But they are never satisfied. They will always have needs.
They get high this way, but like somebody addicted to crack cocaine, once they come down from the high, they get depressed. As a result they have to go looking for some other way to get government to do more and more things for them – all of which they can and should do for themselves.
Democrat politicians thrive on convincing people or themselves that they are unhappy and will be until they find ways of getting what the Democrats tell them they need.
As a result, whatever makes other people unhappy makes Democrat politicians happy.
Democrats want people to be unhappy because it gives them an opportunity to peddle some pie-in-the-sky scheme that allegedly will make them happy. And because they know that the happiness their new idea creates is only temporary and will only lead to more unhappiness when it vanishes, they always have to keep looking for new ways to convince the public that they are unhappy and need government help to find happiness.
Democrats have convinced the black community that blacks should be unhappy and can achieve happiness only when Democrats find ways to solve all their problems. (How patronizing.) But they never make blacks happy because they keep finding new grievances for blacks to nurse. A happy black means an unhappy Democrat; they think blacks have no right to be happy and instead must remain on the Democrat welfare plantation.
Democrats are unhappy because they do not believe that it makes people happy when they achieve something through their own efforts. They cannot accept the idea that anybody can make his or her own way on their own without some kind of government help. In other words, they hate facing everything that made their country great.

Oct. 18, 2004 — American Sex Lives 2004, a new "Primetime Live" sex poll conducted in conjunction with the ABC News Polling Unit, is among the most comprehensive surveys of its kind in decades and establishes a new, detailed picture of sex attitudes and behavior in America today.
The full results of this wide-ranging sex poll will be presented during a live, hourlong "Primetime Live" event airing Thursday, Oct. 21 (10-11 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.
'Primetime Live' Poll: More Republicans Satisfied With Sex Lives Than Democrats Injured Iraq Vets Come Home to Poverty That Was the Week That Was: Oct. 14, 2004 The "Primetime Live" sex poll answers many provocative questions that we have all wondered about, but have never dared to ask, including: how many Americans describe themselves as sexually "traditional" or "adventurous"; how often are Americans having sex; what are the sex habits of cheaters; and who is cheating with their co-worker and who is cheating in the workplace.
The poll analysis includes a breakdown by many subgroups, including region, age and even political party affiliation, which is the topic of results released today:
Of those involved in a committed relationship, who is very satisfied with their relationship? Republicans — 87 percent; Democrats — 76 percent
Who is very satisfied with their sex life? Republicans — 56 percent; Democrats — 47 percent
The poll analysis also reveals who has worn something sexy to enhance their sex life: Republicans — 72 percent; Democrats — 62 percent
When asked whether they had ever faked an orgasm, more Democrats (33 percent) than Republicans (26 percent) said they had.
Among the factors that impact the survey results is that more men identify themselves as Republicans and men are more likely to say they are sexually satisfied and enjoy sex "a great deal." Also, Democrats are more likely to be women; and the poll results show that women are more likely to fake orgasms. The American Sex Lives 2004 survey was conducted by telephone August 2-9, 2004, among a random, anonymous, national sample of adults 18-99 years old. The results have a 2.5-point error margin for all respondents; as in any poll, sampling error is higher for subgroups.
