Big news came in today for US poker players and sports enthusiasts. Amaya, the parent company of PokerStars, has purchased the daily fantasy sports site Victiv and will be relaunching as StarsDraft.

While there still won't be poker available for US players, you will once again be able to play real money contests through the same company that brings you PokerStars and Full Tilt.

Fantasy sports contests will be available for money in most US states during this year's NFL season. While we don't know exactly what will be on offer yet, we know PokerStars likes to think big and assume we'll be seeing a lot of the same from StarsDraft. We expect millions of dollars in prize money to be up for grabs.

Likely that they are just trying to keep their brand awareness high in the US, and keep US customers active and depositing. The platform is irrelevant.

Hopefully they are just positioning themselves for more seamless re-entry into the US poker market.

Yes it's kind like a joke, but it's a way for someone to get around the Laws. Do you really Blame them ??

There is HUGE money in Fantasy Sports, and if I had a small FS business... I would absolutely move to the Next level... and Get Mine !!

They are. They've been trying to buy properties in New Jersey where they can open up to the New Jersey and Nevada markets for online poker. They haven't been able to get approved though because of the past. The WSOP poker site is better than Poker Stars IMO, as far as the how the rakes are set up and tournaments are structured.

Oh I agree 100%.......I would do the same thing.......what I think is a joke is how fantasy sports is considered to be nothing like sports betting, what a joke......but of course if I could start my own business, or even get a piece of the pie of something I never have & never will play in.

Yes online poker is already legal in some states. States just have to vote for it. With sports betting there's a federal ban, and the leagues with their lawyers to keep it in court.
