Please weigh in here:
Last night, Sean Salisbury told Michael Irvin theses NE PAtriots would have beat the Cowboy teams of the early 90's that won the SB. Naturally, Irvin didn't agree.

I also say Salisbury is crazy but 2 of my friends say I am crazy!

What do you guys think?

I'm a hige Pats fan, but Cowboys of Aikman, Smith and Irvin behind offensive line of Allen, Stepnoski and Erik Williams in their prime, too much firepower IMO.

I think defenses were about equal.

I am a Cowboys fan, so I guess I'm biased, I just don't see how you can compare this Pats team to those teams...

I'm a Cowboys fan and biased, but I'd have to say the Boys. Whose to say the Pats could of beat the Bills that went to 3 straight Super Bowls. The Cowboys O-line was the very best.

I'am a die-hard Bills fan and absolutely hate the Cowboys with a passion, but I would have to say this is a no brainer! The Cowboys were loaded with talent! They would wipe NE up and down the field, in fact, I would go as far to say that The Cowboys would beat the Patriots with Sir Anthony Richkas at the healm!

let me refrsh your memory as to how loaded the Cowboys were!

Division Championships 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998

Super Bowl champs 92, 93 and 95

We all are very aware of Emmitt Smith, the Cowboys all time leading rusher. Some may argue that Smith owes his yards to that awesome offensive line and I would have to agree.

We Also know about Troy Aikman, Most Yards Passing, Career 32,942 yards (1989-00) There's also the O-line argument for Aikman.

Who could forget Michael Irvin Most Yards Receiving, Season -1995; 111 for 1603 yards, 10 TDs.

Alvin Harper

Kevin Williams

Then you have Daryl Johnston at FB

Jay Novacek at TE

Then you have that infamous Offensive Line (93'):

mark stepnoski C
nate newton LG
kevin gogan RG
mark tuinei LT
erik williams
kevin gogan OL

On defense:

tony tolbert DE
tony casillas DT
russell maryland DT
charles haley DE
jim jeffcoat DL OMG, GIVE ME A BREAK!

chad hennings DL

leon lett DL <<~~~~~Hate this MF'r with a passion

dixon edwards LB

ken norton jr. MLB <~~would not want to be on the recieving end of him

darrin smith LB

kevin smith LCB
larry brown RCB
thomas everett FS
darren woodson SS
brock marion DB
bill bates DB

eddie murray K
lin elliott P

Please note, this is only from the 93' squad..

I could go on, but I will spare you..

Ask your buddies to come up with half of the talent I've listed above for the Pats.

The name game is easy to play. Take a look at the Steelers from the mid to late 70's and tell me they could'nt beat a Cowboy-Patriot all star team.

Pats gave up 29 points to Carolina. Need I say more? I think Buff could have won a Soper Bowl v. this Pat's team! Brady can make a mistake inside the 10 on 3rd down when a FG all but clinches the game. Did it 2 weeks in a row! That'r right, two weeks in a row! If those 2 plays do not happen, Brady is much closer to Montana material. But, those plays did happen and Brady has gotten off a lot easier since his team won both games!

cowboys would be 14 half point favs and would destroy them . pats d line would be dead by the 4th. the cowboys teams of this era are considered by some to be the greatest of all time, if not the greatest. pats would sniff the top 20 imo. would not be a game after half.

Wil,

I don't know man. I know you seen it all, but I think comparing Cowboys of the 90s to Steelers of 70s is like comparing Steelers of 70s to Packers of 60s.

Forget the names, the Cowboys teams were bigger and faster than the Steelers. Biggest d lineman of Steelers might have been Holmes at maybe 300 going up against a bigger, stronger Cowboys line.

Steelers offensive line was smaller and in no way quicker than Dallas defensive line.

Just like Steelers would've wiped out 60's Packers and all their Hall of Famers, IMO.

Mudbone - Thats the problem with comparing eras aint it? You can measure players bodies, but not their hearts.

My friend just said...

"Yes, this team is As good as any team that played, that's what I'm saying", in refrence to the 2003-04 NE Patriots..

These Pats are a great team, but to say they are as good as ANY team that has ever played in the NFL, I find F*&%'n Crazy! Any thoughts?

I think #1cheater said it best. I'm from New England and have always liked to see the Patriots do well but I have never been what you would call a huge fan. This is a very good team that now has some direction because of a new stadium, a good owner, an excellent coaching staff and players that put the team before themselves.

The Dallas team of the 90's would run this Patriot team right off the field. It would be no contest. The speed and skill that the Cowboy's had on offense would be too much for the Patriots. That Cowboy offensive line would have controlled the game from the opening kickoff.

Irvin wouldn't get open against Ty Law and Washington would shut down Emmitt. I don't think that Cowboy defense was that great either. Yeah Cowboys would be a favorite, but then again the Rams were huge favorites and were shut down all game. Just depends on which teams show up on that day, but I don't think it is that much of a mismatch. Both teams defenses had a bad day yesterday, can't make a judgement just off that one game. This Pats team is quite good, if they hadn't screwed around middle of last season they could have made some noise in those playoffs as well. If they win another title next year, and hard to count them out, what will the experts say?

Easy call if talking SU, Dallas before Free Agency deconstruction was gonna win even more SB's, and have far more Canton talent than does NE, though NE's Defense is a bit more stout than were the Boys of the '90's.

NE has two SB wins by a FG, in an parity era of mediocre teams in terms of dominance...A win over a Ram team that has struggled at every turn along the way in the Greatest Show hype era..A win over a Carolina team that won by 3 all year versus a down NFL.

Dallas physically manhandled a dynasty SF squad in Candlestick to serve notice of their arrival, then stopped a proud and loaded Green Bay team numerous times in classics, albeit they only had to best a finesse Bills twice, or a solid yet not-quite '70's Steeler-esque game Pittsburgh.

Dallas was dominant on occasion, where NE was aided by a bad call versus Oakland in the snow, and has squeeked by Tenn, St.l, and Caro.

IMHO..A talented team for the ages(in a tougher age) over a cohesive team of destiny(from a grab-bag era).

Remember the Boys are just a 1st Q. away of winnings 4 SB's in a row. They laid an egg against SF(94') and made some bonehead turnovers. Cowboys would beat NE by 13+.
