I have had some success betting moneylines as I have hit several bets when teams are favored by 5 points or so win the game but don't cover the number. I have an account with Pinnacle but they don't put up their moneylines until about 11 am the day of the game. Why is that? I know Olympic puts them up the night before. Any other good sportsbooks that have fair overnight moneylines? 5 dimes and a few others have inflated moneylines. I noticed with Pinnacle a lot of the moneylines are a lot higher the day of the game than they would have been the night before. Thanks.

nobody comes close, if you want a 12 point dog on ML, pinny is the place, shopping for a betterline is futile !

But I mostly bet moneyline favorites straight or in parlays. By the time Pinnacle posts their moneylines,a lot of them have gone up a good amount.

If they went up , that's good. I think you mean they went DOWN. If they went up or down, up or down from what starting point ?

Either way Pinny will have a decent line. I don't run Pinny can't get ML's out earlier for you. Pinny will throw an early pointspread on NBA, but not ML. maybe try 5 Dimes, they are liberal with parlays.

Spreads come first, ML's always later.

I'm a str8 guy myself !

I think you are saying that the moneylines move against you compared with what they theoretically would have been the night before. Perhaps this is exactly why they wait to post the ML.

Most action is on the spread. By the morning the spread has been hammered by smart money and the line adjusted so they now feel secure in posting a low juice ML without getting hammered by sharps. After all if the opening moneyline showed the volatility seen in some opening spreads it might be too easy to shift the odds then buy back the scalp.

Just an idea that seems to make sense.

Very well put Woody. Just wondering why a top notch sportsbook like Olympic does it and Pinnacle doesn't.

I am far from being knowledgeable on US Sportsbooks strategy but find their line movement alarming from a bookmaking point of view, they seem to go up and down like the proverbial Bridegrooms arse. Given the volatility of the points spread betting, chalking a M/L up early would be suicidal as in theory, this should be your starting anchor.
