MC posted a thread in the NBA forum about Pinnacle's steam plays at the half and I posted 28 games that I followed earlier in the season. Those games went 17-11 for the steam plays like you posted here. Too small of a sample but you have to learn to read the steam.

I just wanted to make the point that Pinnacle's steam doesn't always translate into a win. If it works for you, go for it. Maybe I'll put some more time into studying it. Thanks for bringing up the topic.

Perhaps a lot of squares bet on NY causing the -5.5 line to go to -138. I've seen a line go from -108 to -135 back to -108 before betting closed before the half started. I've also charted steam at Pinnacle in a spreadsheet over several games and they don't always come out for the Pinnacle line.

That's right ! Pinny lines are a good yardstick, but too volatile on an NBA H2. I've seen money lines on a dog go from like +400, +440,+385, +490, +410, + 380, +460, and so on.

I don't put much stock in H2 moves.
