They simply base it on the fact that Dallas shot 60% from the field compared to New Yorks 27%-28% and anybody that is remotely familiar with NBA knows that neither of those numbers stay on pace and eventually even out somewhat. Not to mention they take into account the odds of New York losing by 30+ by the end of the game are not very good %~wise.......

Perhaps a lot of squares bet on NY causing the -5.5 line to go to -138. I've seen a line go from -108 to -135 back to -108 before betting closed before the half started. I've also charted steam at Pinnacle in a spreadsheet over several games and they don't always come out for the Pinnacle line.

Righto Quantum........also, although %-wise the odds would favor a team such as New York coming back a bit tonight with Dallas cooling of and Knicks bringing shooting percentage up to par..........There are just some nights where one team is rolling and the other simply doesnt have it, in which you stay away......

If I "had" to choose a side on it Quantum, I would of definitely took NY, but, just looked at the score and although it's still early, it's not looking good for the Knicks or those who took them for 2nd half. As I mentioned above, the majority of the time things will even out somewhat, but every now and then a team just doesn't show up the whole game.....
