c)notice the "tension cable" extending from the tugboat wheelhouse TO THE fantail in BOTH photos... the USS Liberty was NOT attacked by toot-toot little tugboats assembled in battle formation.


d)look at the single INDIVIDUAL at the bow(front) in BOTH PHOTOS separated from a GROUP OF PEOPLE at the bow.... remember...these people are standing leisurely while a strafing run of 30mm cannon fire is being directed at the ship...


e)the USS Liberty is riding TOO HIGH in the water for June 8, 1967... 8 feet too high.... they had been loaded down at Rota, Spain earlier in the preceeding two weeks.

Here's my analysis (click for larger image):



Lines are numbered and coloured.

1.) We begin with the two red lines that mark the outer edges of the ship.
2.) Although not necessary really, I then applied the lines for the edging in the bow of the ship which is roughly twice as high as the remainder of the decking.
3.) Knowing the main deck height in relation to the raised bow section, we can then identify the main deck centre line bow position, and run a line half way between our two deck edge lines, for the length of the ship.
4.) In yellow, the horizontal componant is added, starting with the base of the ship superstructure, across the deck.
5.) Uses the same line as 4.) establishing the same cross-deck line for the bow point.
6.) Estimates the approx point at which the deck edge drops lower.
7.) Establishes the approx position of the forward mast along the deck (half way between the bow and superstructure)
8.) I just realised there is no 8.)
9.) In blue, establishing the height of the superstructure, first at the point of yellow line 4.), and then rising from the bow (calculating perspective by judgement of superstructure being roughly half again as high as the height from waterline to top of bow edge).
10.) Green line between upper points of 9.) establishes centre line height for top of superstructure, extended through length of ship.
11.) Using all of the above, forward mast position located by intersection of 3.) and 7.) and rising estimated 3x height of superstructure, as guided by roof line 10.)

Note that mast line perfectly matches vertical break in superstructure, and height termination perfectly matches obstruction that is most likely fixture at head of mast.

Case closed. Give me my $500.00.
