Chaos is about to begin! Pete said that since he is the number 1 team if he beats a very good michigan team in the rose bowl he should be the national champion. As crazy as it sounds he makes an excellent point. If USC goes out and beats michigan will the pollsters vote USC out of the top spot? A case could be made that michigan is as good as LSU and oklahoma despite having 2 losses.

If USC somehow destroys michigan (not likely especially since i think michigan will win outright) and the winner of the LSU/okie game looks unimpressive we will have chaos on our hands and an immediate restructuring of the BCS system.

i'm with you on mich, i think they are for real, but there is no way they can beat usc and move up to #1

as for usc, of course they got the shaft, but cal beat them, and OK and LSU lost to real teams

Hopefully, when we're all old and grey (or...greyer !) we'll look back on this point in time and say, "Do you remember , around the turn of the century when they let COMPUTERS decide the champion ???"

The AP Voters are under no obligation to vote the winner of the LSU/OU game as National Champion (only the ESPN/USA Today poll is obligated to do so).

Right now, the AP has Southern Cal as #1. If they beat Michigan, then we very well could have a split National Champion this year.

In that case, OHIO STATE would then still be the defending CONSENSUS National Champion!!!!

Cincy, I think USC's O is fabulous, but their D is over-rated..and getting "geeked" to win the 1st gm of the year versus an average Auburn is much different than winning every week in the physically pounding SEC.

In the SEC, teams beat top flight teams on the road only to lose to middle of the pack teams the week later at home with an empty tank..it's called an "win-by-assist" down here..the toll is taxing.

Loosy-Goosy West coast ball allows a team to pick their spots in getting "geeked" for a trip to the Plains or South Bend.. a luxury that SEC play doesn't forgive.

Guys,

None of you are stronger supporters of the SEC than me, and I'm telling you right now that USC would flat cold whack the fvck out of Georgia, Florida and especially Ole Miss. They are a very, VERY solid team.

Agreed Pete, USC is easily better than all SEC teams this fall..SANS LSU..TOSSUP IF USC BRINGS THEIR PASS DEFENSE THAT MYTHICAL DAY.

The Passing D they brought this past Saturday however would be torched by LSU or OU..imho

Florida, Georgia, & Mississippi all stink yet they are going to bowl games, & all 3 were in it to the very end to win their conference.

Atleast these 3 are ranked, unlike most of the Pac 10 which is nowhere to be found this year.
