Payouts by paper checks...How safe / reliable / TROUBLE-FREE?

I've been wagering online for ten years now, and until now I have nearly always received payouts via methods other than paper checks. In fact, just to show you how long it's been, the last paper check I recieved was from English Sports Betting.

However, here we are in 2008. Neteller is out. I've been "flagged" by western union. Because of that, I'd rather just avoid MG. The "card" offered by several of the top books is iffy AT BEST.

That leads me to requesting paper checks. However, I hate the thought of a paper check in this day and age. I don't mind the wait, however I have questions about how reliable, safe and trouble-free a paper check is.

If I bring a check to my bank to be deposited, are they going to question where it came from? Am I going to have to wait forever for it to clear??? What type of check is this, and who is it issued by??? I'm sure the answers vary depending on the sportsbook, but in general what should I expect??

Thanks in advance for any replies / advice.

I was nervous when my first check came from The Greek. There payouts are fast 4-5 days after request ur checks at your doorstep. The Checks are odd though and my bank was like wheres this from ive never seen a check like this? iwas like i sell things on ebay and this was the check that was sent to me and they cashed all the checks ive brought but i get nervous if a new teller asks me where i got it from every time i bring one.

to be deposited = keyword

as long as this is what u do you should have no problems . put it in with other checks at the same time and they wont even look twice..If by chance the check is no good however it will take a lil longer than usual to find that out depending on where its drawn from..

No bank asks where a check came from, UNLESS the person depositing it asks when the funds are available.

I have received many checks from sportsbooks and I have NEVER been questioned by a bank teller. But also, I dont ask ANY questions about when the money is available either. And each check is over $3000 usually. If YOU start asking questions, then so will the teller.

In other words, DONT mention anything about the check that you are depositing, and the bank wont mention anything either

Thanks, guys! As for all of the hush-hush regarding the topic. C'mon. If the Feds are sitting here reading these posts, don't you think they're smart enough to log onto which ever sportsbook they please, where all of the banking info (well, most of it) is right there in black and white for all to see?

I agree, naming specific banks from where the check is drawn and things like that aren't wise, and that is not the type of info I asked for.

But speaking in general terms.....Like I said, if you think that the "authorities" are gathering info out of this thread that they didn't already know, you're not too bright.

The ONLY people complaining about receiving checks are the idiots who go to the bank and say these things..............

1. Is this a good check?

2. When will I know that this check cleared??

3. Is it ok for me to receive checks from sportsbooks?

4. Do I need to pay taxes on this??

These sound like stupid questions for gamblers to ask, but I can tell that many of the posters here have asked these same questions.

Lets face it, your bank doesnt give a damn where your check came from unless it is over $5000. And then, they just report it. They ONLY give people a hard time about cashing a check AFTER the patron acts supicious and asks about the check themselves

I mail the checks to my bank with a deposit slip, my main bank ( CU) is 20 miles away, never a problem. I always have a lot more in my account than the check is written for.

I guess that I should say that I dont ask for a check larger than $4000 at a time. If I want to take a payout of $10,000, then I will do it in 3 checks.

But I walk right inside and have NEVER even received a second look. But likewise, I dont say anything about the deposit at all. People who ask questions are hiding something.

Again, Why mess with a check when you can just have a bank wire deposited in your account with NO ISSUES, not even the fucko silly ass hold some banks like to put on your money, that doesn't happen with bank wires.

I have used bank wires a few times, they do leave a "paper" trail. As long as the check is under $5000, a check wont leave a trail with the account that it came from

if you are depositing the check, there is a "paper" trail. (shows up on bank statement)
it is better to cash the check than to deposit it.
no paper trail if you cash it.
