called for the killing of a human being. How anyone can defend

Seems like a knee jerk reaction by you to imply that noone else knows the facts. The fact is his statements were on his 700 club broadcast and on tape. They are not taken out of context.

We hear some on this board use terms like "the loony left". This guy is close to this administration and has the ear of the president. It would be difficult to find anyone of consequence on the left that comes close to being as loony as Robertson.

So you're saying Pat Robertson has access to some secret information that the rest of us don't know about? I wouldn't be surprised given the Bush administration's proclivity for leaking information, but in this case I'm pretty sure that Pat Robertson just doesn't like Chavez because he isn't afraid to be harshly critical of Bush. Remember that Pat Robertson also said that we deserved to be attacked by terrorists.

And FYI, Pat Robertson doesn't officially 'lead' anything in the Catholic church. He's not the Pontiff, a cardinal, or arch-bishop.

I'm sure you would consider me a lefty (since Republicans consider everyone who thinks Bush is an idiot a lefty), and I can honestly say that I have no idea who Noam Chomsky is, other than having heard his name mentioned occasionally. I'll go look it up after this post, but I haven't the faintest idea what his position on any issue is (other than what I can obviously infer from your post). It seems like the righties pay a lot more attention to the so called leaders of the left than us liberals do.

Defend what? I couldn't give a Rat's ass about Robertson or religion, I'm an Athiest. My point is Chavez past is checkered, and he did try to overthrow his Govt in the past. He's no choir boy... I'm not saying "secret" information and this guy has critized the US, but it goes beyond that, he did try to overthrow his Own govt in 1992.

Again my knowledge of Venzuela is reading a few Newspaper articles here and there... so very little.

I'm just thinking some of those that are so quick to slam here, don't know much about it other, but Robertson said it so they jump on.
