Well looks like my thread went bye bye. For posterity here is the record.

AZ W +2 units
CAL W +1 unit
UO W +1 unit
OSU +16.5 L -1 unit (never got the number I was looking for to middle)

I had mentioned that I was seriously considering adding the UO/USU over 51. I did but couldn't post it so I won't count it against the record.

YTD 5-2, 71%, +4 units

Regrets:
  • Should have bought out the OSU bet once I found out that Perry (OL) didn't make the trip. Stupid.
  • Should have played ASU, considering how well the passing game is working for them and how week Stanford secondary looked. I was just too afraid that they would take the opportunity to grind their running game.
Happy:
  • Very happy that I reconsidered that BYU bet. I was worried that BYU would have difficulty containing Locker and was right. BYU is OVERRATED.
  • I went to a BBQ last night with an Ohio St. alum. He tells me that they are going to get their ass kicked vs USC. I agree.

I was thinking the same thing. I realize OSU would have trouble getting up for Ohio, but the Buckeyes, even with Beanie Wells, aren't going to have what it takes on offense to beat USC. I don't want to start anything here, but personally I think USC would take Florida and a couple of these other nationally ranked teams that I've seen on tv the past couple of weeks, to the woodshed if they ever played them.

What do you think of Oregon's trip to Purdue? I think Purdue is a team that beats they teams they should and get smashed by the ones who have more talent, I think Oregon rolls here, but worry about the cross-country trip and first road game of the year?

Heh heh... I bet I can guess what side we agree on in the USC/OSU game.

I suppose it would be fair to say OSU wasn't focused 100% in their game yesterday. But they sure looked terrible for a long time as Ohio had them on the ropes. I can't recall exactly 100% for sure but I think a TO later in the game was the lucky break that finally shifted the momentum and sprung them. I never figured their weak points would show as much, looking ahead or not. That was totally unexpected.

It wouldn't be the first time in recent history USC dispatched an "elite" OOC team with ease. However I'm sure the pollsters will treat the Buckeyes kindly afterwards if it plays out that way. I'm not so sure if they will survive PSU though. That might be the final straw this year for OSU.

See UM in '07... not too far off from that I suppose.

PS... Ducks. That was my thinking too re: BYU. UCLA's got them this week. Remember this is also a payback game for the Bruins. I'm still getting used to their strengths and lack of strengths in ways. Wonder how well Craft can play on the road and if he will do as his father mentioned... a slow starter. I know he can play a very good QB game. I've seen it. But when in the game will he kick in @ BYU? Hmmmmm.

I don't know how true it is, but I've always heard that it's easier for a team to travel east than it is to travel west. I think it's one3 of the reasons why Hawaii has so much success at home.

Ducks and Conan - I'm really interested to hear your thoughts on Cal -10 @ Maryland. I think Cal smokes them something awful. Also Zona St at home -24.5 vs UNLV and OU -20 @ UW. Thanks guys.

Major, I can't speak for Ducks but it wouldn't surprise me if he thought what I'm thinking which is that Cal is out to smoke anything that burns, location irrelevant. I doubt MD has an answer for Jahvid Best, and with Riley under center, I agree that they will be smoking Terrapin next week.

ASU covering 24 at home vs UNLV looks real good but maybe they will be a little distracted by UGA coming to town in a week. 20 might be a bit much @ Husky Stadium. I'm still thinking about it. OU can put up 20 if you just take a pee break.

Personally, I think UCLA is going to get their clocks cleaned by BYU next week. It is a classic case of UCLA being overrated because of their nationally televised win over Tennessee, and BYU's subpar performance against a determined Washington team. My bet is UCLA's offense is going to completely fall on their asses when they go on the road.

I am going to be all over BYU this week....have played a very small amount on BYU -9, but am waiting on the line to possibly fall...thoughts on line movement?

I think the line is going to move up. But probably not much past 10.

Thats what everyone on the RX, including Gyno, thought for the Las Vegas Bowl. UCLA almost won outright, and covered the spread. (BYU -7)

That was with Karl Dorrell at the helm....

UCLA gutted out a very tough win vs. UT 2 weeks ago. They did it with defense and special teams vs a QB (Crompton) making his first start a long ways from home (a la Longshore when Cal visited Neyland 2 yrs ago.) Their offense was almost as bad as it was billed to be.

Not the case with BYU even though they looked a bit scattered and inept at Husky Stadium. I refuse to touch it even at 10. I can't play BYU either after I saw what Washington did. BYU could be more vulnerable than you think.
