Well - I see no one here really tackles the Pac 10 on a regular basis so I will give it a try for a bit and see how it goes. At the least I can add some insight as I watch and cap a good portion of the games. No posted record...sorry. All lines Pinny.
Stanford +1.5 vs USC (pinny) This is my top pick for the weekend. Stanford's early record was tainted by the lack of Chris Hernandez and since their loss to ASU where he sat out, the Cardnal have been on an impressive roll blowing out Arizona at home and Cal and UCLA on the road. USC is all over the map and a consistent well disciplined Stanford should have no trouble winning by 10. For some reason the bookmakers are not giving this team respect yet and the fact they are underdogs to USC is beyond me...just ask Freaknasty.
UCLA -10 vs CAL UCLA is on the rise even though they have a two game losing streak. Anyone who watched the Arizona game last Saturday knows these kids are good and are just a step away form making the NCAA's in March. They were due for a loss after the heatbreaker in Tucson. Who better to get back on your feet then against the miserable Bears. Cal keeps this in single digits in the first half and then fades away due to lack of depth for a 17 point Bruin win.
Arizona -5.5 vs Ore St. This game scares the **** out of you if you are a Ore St. fan...and this game scares the **** out of you if you are an Arizona fan. Ore St. is good especially at home. I believe they will be up for this game and Arizona is susceptible to 2nd game Saturday let downs a la Stanford 2 weeks ago. This is a no play for me, but if pushed I would go with Arizona. Salim Stoudimire is shooting an Amazing 60% from beyond the arc and 57% for the year FU JJ Reddick. The Cats are deep and aside from the Stanford debacle have really turned the season around after a close loss to Wake Forest early in the year. Ore St.'s gueards will not be able to penitrate like Stanfords, Oregons, and Wake Forests which is what gets Arizona into trouble. Cats should win by 8.
Oregon - 5 vs ASU Arizona St. much like Stanford for some reason is still getting goofy lines based on their early season record. ASU played no one until going up against Arizona back on Jan 2nd. They got a lucky win in Stanford due to the absence of Hernandez with back spasams. Since then they have lost 3 games in a row and are playing about how everyone figured they would when they were picked to finish last in the Pac 10. Oregon has the most talented group of freshman in the Pac 10 outside of Pauley Pavilion. The problem is they are freshman and it showed Thurs against a disciplined Arizona team were they turned the bal over and were unable to run the offense in the first half, then came back in the second half looking like a tournament team. Mac Court is the toughest place to play in the Pac10 and my Pick is Oregon bounces back and slaps the Sun Devils by 10 to 15.
Stanford 5*
Oregon 4*
UCLA 3*
Arizona 2*
