will the senators choke away this playoff series with the isles - like they are so accustomed to doing in the past (for jacques martin's case - they better not - for if they go down to the isles i sense someone will be losing his job).

That was a shameful performance by O-Ottawa. Now I see why this team has never won a thing. They got me tonight but that's the last play I'll have on this team. I'm wondering. If the Islanders left the ice, how long would it have taken O-Ottawa to score?

well, that ottawa performance sure makes anyone holding tampa futures feel good. thought sens were only team who could beat lightning - now im hoping sens keep advancing!

Ottawa should win this series. But anything Is possible In a short series.

bobby,

i see you like tb a lot in the first round.

can you give me your insight and reasons for that. it will be appreciated.

maybe i missed your thaughts on this series, i dont know, and if that is the case, can you post the link.

personnaly i like was to take this series and i expect them to do it easily.

i give a huge experience edge to the capitals here, especially regarding the key players for both teams.

thanks buddy.

Senators are an effin joke.Had a blast at work today asking all the bandwagon Sens fans what happened their hockey team last night..And then there's all those winners driving around town with a sens flag strapped to their 72 pinto.that being said they are still going to beat the islanders fairly easily but anyone thinking this bunch has enough to contend for the cup is in a big time dream world like most of these Sens fans

don: this year didnt do any write-ups for series as have in past - no time. but to keep it brief (almost time for 2nd ncaa game):

watched tampa down stretch and they impressed me by being able to play either defensive OR offensive style; i rate them as one of best passsing teams in league (right up there with wings, ducks, sens); khabibulin not only was more impressive down stretch than kolzi, but lightning have dependable grahame to fall back on if something goes wrong - caps have no choice but tos tick with kolzig; jagr is a cancer and see this team quitting if they fall behind; lightning defense improved gradually over last 6 weeks; big special teams edge to tampa.

oh, and a buddy who is supersharp wiseguy bet ten dimes on lightning series. "you dont even have to handicap it," he said. "that price is enough to justify the bet. its way off."

more but time for pre-game cigar!

I mentioned this before the series started, and yes I have a vested interest in Caps as a future at huge odds to win the East, but here I go again. This Caps team is BUILT for the playoffs. Their experience at ALL positions on the ice, especially playoff experience, is monumental. The Lightnings playoff and divisional run was stupefying but as all young teams and players in the NHL learn the regular season is NOT the playoffs and the fumes you smell are the remnants of TB's empty gas tank in Game 1. Even if they win Game 2, which I question, they have back to back nights at Washington games 3 & 4. if the series ties at 1 and Washington wins game 3, the Lightning just have NO recovery time for game 4. I just dont see the Lightning winning next 3 of 4 to take a 3-2 lead in this series. If they don't it is all over in Game 6 in Washington but I think it may not go that far. Tampa Bay was all out for 2 1/2 months to win the division and just don't have the extra gear needed to ratchet it up a notch like you need to in the playoffs. 1st year coach and young team just don't have anything left I am afraid. Having said all that, again, their play the last 2 1/2 months of the regular season was outstanding. Caps did nothing wrong and couldn't win the division which would have made life much easier for them especially if either Ottawa or NJ gets knocked off in the 1st round because then they would have gotten 2 home ice ad series instead of 1.

Oh and by the way, the line SHOULD have been higher, in the -140 to -150 range. When it wasn't the books were sending a clear message they wanted the money on TB and not Washington. A TOTAL sucker line.

superfan: keep in mind when laying the deflated -10 with lightning it gives the bettor some options as series goes along (assuming the fav can split the first four games). and anyone who heeded my advice in another thread to lay -10 with tampa and look at betting caps for game one is feeling pretty decent. naturally, i didnt...

and conversely - since we both agree line was deflated anyone taking caps at -10 to win series got the worst of it.

regardless, its a big game for tampa today, and hoping they even series, which will mean worst case scenario everyone will be able to get off of series if want!
