How long do you think it would take you to mow 5 acres of grass?

I made a bet yesterday that involves me mowing 5 acres of grass and I am wondering just how stupid I am making bet when I am drunk.

Here are the rules:

I am mowing 5 acres that is a rectangle and has no structures and 18 citrus trees scattered throughout.

I do not have to weed eat, but must come with in 6 inches of the fence and trees.

I can have an assistant who will be bringing me drinks and keeping the mowers fueled up.

I have two brand new mowers to use, but can only actually use one at a time. They are 22" craftsmen mowers that are self propelled, but I am not allowed to use that feature. I do not need to bag the grass.

The grass will be cut 8 days prior, so the length should be somewhat long, but not too bad.

I have to begin between noon and 1pm, so it should be about 93 or so degrees. If it rains, I will not be allowed to stop.

The night prior I must drink however much the other guy determines betwwen the hours of 11pm until 6am, but I am limited to a maximum of 1 liter of Vodka and the most that can be forced upon me after 3am is half of the liter.

I am not allowed to throw up until I actually am 30 minutes into starting to mow.

Now for my question is, how long would it take you given those rules?

IN all seriousness, with all the drinking you do, do you worry about health issues at all? With a litre of Vodka, how the hell do you function the next day, or that day as for that matter.

Another side note, drink tons of water that whole night, and you might make it. I am saying 5-6 hours

Ya, pretty much know that I need to stop soon, but do not foresee it happening.

an hour an acre with a push mower seems very fast, plus it would be hard to even stand up after all that vodka.

You'd have to average better than 4mph to do an acre in an hour.

Acrehect.gif

In the English-speaking world, before 8th – 21st century, a unit of land area, now
  • = 43,560 square feet
  • = 4,840 square yards
  • = 160 square rods
  • = 1/640 square mile (that is, 0.001 562 5 sq. mile)
  • is about 0.404 687 3 hectare
A square plot of ground, 208.7 feet on a side, will cover an acre. An American football field, 360 feet by 160 feet, is about 1.3 acres; 12 high school basketball courts are a little more than 1 acre.

dude you are going to suffer like there is no tomorrow....

the amount of the bet would have to be huge to endure something like that.

the effect of direct exposure to sun after drinking alot of liquor can be devastating. if you actually tried to stick it out the entire time, you could be dead before its over.

I owned 3/4 of an acre in North Carolina and it took me an hour on a riding mower.

you won't finish, if you do, minimum 8-10 hours, just pay the bet and save yourself the aggravation.
