Sorry, I know I know... It doesn't belong here at all. Still, you guys generally steer me in the right direction.

Anyway, we go to the fair. My keys/alarm device fall out of my pocket at some point and I found my keys but the alarm part was lost.

You may be asking what the deal is. My car's alarm will sound if I open it with the keys. No big deal. However, the engine is totally dead and won't start at all until I hit the key chain thingy to disable it. Is it as simple as taking out a fuse to turn this f-ing alarm off? Any help? Would taking the battery cables off and putting them back on do anything? It sure as hell sets my alarm off when I do it...

Any advice at all would be appreciated.

There's got to be a switch somewhere in your vehicle for just such an occasion, but likely in a place that not's quickly accessible or else someone could bust in and immediately disable the noise.

No owners manual?

depends on the car alarm and how its wired.. if you open the car the alarm goes off right? But you can't pop the hood unless u get in the car..
what battery is dead on the keychain or the car? Your gonna need to get the hood open anyway to stop the alarm, and start the car if that battery is dead.. if your no einstein just disconnect the battery first then you can worry about getting to the alarm

and c'mon jake.. the fair? what buttocks blaster bar is your car parked outside of?:drink:

If I unlock my door with my key with the alarm set, the alarm goes off.

No way to pop the hood without getting in the car.

Keychain alarm button thing is the thing that got lost.

I can set the alarm off, get in the engine area... then if I disconnect/reconnect the battery cables will it reset and let me start this sum bitch?

Also, yeah the girlfriend wanted to go to the fair... I had an incredible onion cheeseburger and left happy.

Check to see if your alarm is connected to the battery. The alarm on my car is and there is a fuse you can take off and it will disable your alarm.

Fuse box near the driver's seat or the one right near the battery? I guess I could check both but figured I'd ask before I mess with it in the AM.

I'll eventually get to doing that but I want to move it bright and early in the morning so I don't get towed. I'll just drive it to the dealership if I can figure out how to bypass the alarm. I just want it out of there since the fair parking has me planted in the middle of a little league field.
