I need some advice......

My company is buying some new machiney from a company in Bakersfield, CA. The piece of equipment was 35k and I had a financing company put up 30% of the money in order for them to start production of the machine. The machine was suppose to be here 3 weeks ago, the company has quit answering their phone, and nobody will return a phone call or answer an email. I did some research today and found out that the guy I was dealing with is 99.9% running a scam. I called my financing company and started the ball rolling with them on what to do next, but my question is weather or not I should call the police? If I called the Bakersfield police, does anyone think they would look into it, or just blow me off? I realize its a business deal gone bad, but bottom line is that a guy is stealing/stole 11k.

they will blow you off...it's a civil matter at this point, non-criminal

What other details could I give? I purchased a machine from a company that makes new machines. I had an equipment financer pay for the machine. Now the company I bought the machine from has practically dissapeared and I have no machine. What am I leaving out that would be pertinent? A financer wired the money to a bank account where someone took the money.

No offense intended man, I am just really pissed/frustrated right now and looking for advice from someone who is very knowledgable with this sort of thing, who isn't just making a guess.

They have their side, which may be lies and made up, but they can claim its a business deal gone bad and make up stuff that you did to them. Hard for the police to know who is telling the truth.

More of a you need a lawyer situation. You probably can complain to the attourney general in California that they have a scam company in their midst. that might bear fruit.

You will have to sue to get your 11k back. So lawyer fees for sure and no guarantee you ever get the money back. But no other way i think.

First of all are you serious about calling the cops?? wouldnt that be common sense to call them do you really need to ask people on here if you should, and second of all chalk it up as a loss be happy it was only 10k and consider it a lesson learned....

Pay a lawyer right away to send them a threatening letter in his best legaleese about how serious what they have done is and what will happen if they don't either deliver or refund you. That will not cost much. If that doesnt work, have him send a "final warning" soon after. If that doesnt work you have to decide if its worth it to sue.

I used to work for a really small company, I know a bit about how to handle this stuff. You want to avoid prolonged legal battles if you can, lawyer fees are not cheap.

You need to involve people with big nasty tattoos, and heavy hands,,, tell them they can have 40% of the 10 grand to bring you the 6,,,

handle it like real men,,, Hire an enforcer, they are fairly easy to find, and will more than happy to get shit straight for 4Gs.
