Oscar de la Hoya kicks some Nica ass

I can't believe no one has posted about the fight! Especially considering the opponent (Mayorga) was a trash-talking Nica with most his boxing experience in Costa Rica.

I'm not even a boxing fan, and all I can say is that ROCKED!! Oscar de la Hoya is so awesome.

BTW, does anyone have a recording in English? I watched Canal 7 in spanish, is sucked having Oscar's post-fight comments dubbed over and poorly translated.

See, Venus, I thought the same when i read the post but to tell you the truth descrimination is not only a tico thing. Same thing happens all over the world...religion, skin color, ethnic groups, even handicapped people, sex, race, u name it. Truth is, it's true that if it wasn't for nicaraguans our coffee and bananas would not be processed but on the other hand, due to economical reasons or whatever, they are know to us ticos as people of a violent nature and you'll read about them in "sucesos" on the newspaper on a daily basis. I recieved the same kind of descrimination in USA, North Carolina, to be specific where every latino is a mexican. So, it's a neverending crash of ideologies.

Berated his Mexican heritage, questioned his sexuality, made derogatory statements about his wife, threatened harm to his family, assualted Oscar at a press conference and disrespected his deceased mother -- is about the extent the english papers were willing to translate the vulagarities against Oscar. However Canal 7 briefly put up a printed quotation of Mayorga, perhaps someone with better spanish can repeat it here.

Anyway it's history, and it made the fight so much more enjoyable to watch. My wife's a huge De la Hoya fan.

Yeah... glad you were the one who said it 'cause I didn't want to look like the bad guy. But I agree, that it doesn't mater he was Nica or not. I like The Nicas, hard workers and very good people. It might have mattered if it was the Olympics and it was country vs. country but not in this case.

I do like De La Hoya though... I have followed him since the haydays of him and Julio Ceaser Chavez. I still think in any weight class Roy Jones Junior would be De La Hoyas ass.:finger:
