Hello dubpoet..

I agree whole-heartedly with Oregon St in this one, the Beavers won me lots of money this season and especially coming down the stretch, one of my favorite things to do in Bowl games is to go against new head coaches...this has been very profitable in the past.

New head coaches tend to be a little starry eyed and do not handle the bowl distractions too well which translates into poor team preparation, this bowl season there are three new kids on the block.

I broke tradition this year by going against this system and placed my money on Cincinnati Bearcat new head coach Marc Dantonio over Marshall's head coach Bob Pruett, but only because Dantonio was Jim Tressels right hand man at Ohio State and Dantonio built the buckeye defense which ultimately won the national championship over Miami-Fla.

There are two newbie head coaches left that are leading their teams into bowl games this year and I will be going against both of them, one is Kent Baer who will be calling the shots for the Irish and the other is Charlie Strong who will be leading the Florida gators...Baer will be going up against Mike Riley and Strong will be going up against Larry Coker which means both newbies are out classed.

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and have a better New Year!

I liked Toledo for all of the right reasons, unfortunately for me and every other Toledo bettor, I believed the Toledo coaching staff and the reporters covering the teams that QB Gradkowski was okay when in fact he was not, that made all of the difference in the game.

If you like notre dame in this game why don't you simply post your reasons why you like the irish instead of trying to be a smartass?

This is a Football Handicapping board and thus ALL OPINIONS are welcome, unlike you I do alot of research and handicap my own games, I try to help out others by posting the info that I come across in order to help others...why don't you try to do the same?

Deb, you are right on. Toledo gave that game away last night, and im damn happy about it. A healty QB would have made all the difference. I hat to feel greedy after a big win like last night, but I really like Oregon State here. Should be a big win for them. Great passing game, against the Irish who dont stop the pass very well. For the Irish to win, they will need some really big plays from their D. I dont see it. Go Oregon St.

Also don't forget Toledo's defensive coach was a lame duck for that game. I believe that had to have an affect on their defensive unit since U Conn pretty much had their way with them all night. All signs pointed the wrong way for Toledo last night.

Hey guys..

I don't think you can really peg Toledo's loss on their defense, they held uconn QB Orlovsky to 20 of 41 pass attempts which is less than a 50% pass completion rate and intercepted him once along the way, the Toledo defense also held uconn to 20 first downs which by the way is the very same number of first downs that Toledo had in the game.

Its water under the bridge but clearly the difference in the game was Toledo QB Gradkowski not being healthy as reported, that's the only bad thing about wagering on College football as coaching staffs are allowed to cover up and not report injuries which is totally the opposite of the NFL where coaches are required to be honest and up front.

take care and good luck

Check #71 ace ace in this forum. If you need a reason to bet UCONN. Toledo is a good passsing team, UCONN has a very good pass defense team, UCONN has played the tougher schedule.

PLEASE stop making silly statements like "UCONN has played the tougher schedule"...I would strongly advise you to do your homework so that you may put forth an INFORMED opinion.

The huskies of uconn actually played the nations 102nd toughest schedule while Toledo played the nations 93rd toughest schedule, both uconn and Toledo played a total of FIVE Bowl bound teams, uconn went 1-4 SU and ATS versus Bowl bound teams while Toldeo went 3-2 SU and ATS against Bowl bound teams.....Oregon State which was a winner for me last night, actually played the nations toughest schedule.

good luck

I got my information from Jeff Sargin's web site. He had UCONN schedule ranking at 104 and team ranking at 72.22, their conference ranking at 71.09. Toledo had a schedule ranking 118 and team ranking 66.21, their conference ranking at 55.23. I guess it depends on where you get your informationa and who you thinks has the better information.
Appearently my first comment came out wrong. All I was trying to say and should have said was that I don't like betting a game becasue a coach has decided to move on, the other coaches should be able to manage the game, they worked all year under the system. I know that stats have proven that bowl teams that lose their head coach struggle in their bowl game. I just don't like betting into it.
Sorry about my poor judgement in words on my first quote.
