I told you he was fast.

Conan, looks like the Ducks are piling up some speed again.

Oregon Ducks
receiver Devon Allen is fast. Really fast. So fast he'll compete for a spot in the Rio Olympics in a few days and so fast that he's been named the fastest player in all of college football by NFL.com.

The ranking of the sport's speediest was compiled by Chase Goodbread, who has put together a series of "16 for '16" articles for the site. Here's what he has to say about the Ducks speedster:
Last fall, it was fair to wonder if the Ducks' wide receiver/track star had lost a step due to a knee injury. Now, it's fair to assume he hasn't. He won his second NCAA title in the 110-meter hurdles event earlier this month with a time of 13.50 seconds, and earlier in the track season, he posted a 100-meter dash time of 10.36. He'll compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials on July 9 in the 110-meter hurdles event, where a top-three finish would qualify him for the Summer Games in Rio. Understandably, Allen is pondering his future in both sports. Two years ago, Allen clocked the second-fastest 110-meter hurdles time in NCAA history at 13.16. The knee injury happened against FSU in a College Football Playoff semifinal. With his recovery validated by the 2016 track season, Allen this fall looks to return to his 2014 football form, when he caught 41 passes for 684 yards.
Other Pac-12 players on the list include Washington WR John Ross III (No. 15), Stanford WR Isaiah Brandt-Sims (No. 11), Arizona WR Tyrell Johnson (No. 4), Cal running back Khalfani Muhammad (No. 3) and USC corner back Adoree' Jackson (No. 2). In other words, the conference dominates the list. Both Allen and Jackson could end up representing the US in Brazil later this summer.

5th Place for Devon Allen in the 110M Hurdles.................after making it to the Final...............impressive to make it that far and to be the 5th Best in the World at that event.

Something wasn't right with him. He wasn't at his best.
He knocked down 5 hurdles out of 9 or 10 and each one cost
him .006 seconds. They must have looked like linebackers to
to him.
Though he finished 5th, his time was still .3 seconds behind
the gold medalist who also happened to run the 5 fastest
times this year. A Jamaican no less.
At least Allen proved that he belonged in the race. Kudos to
him for that.

Just seemed like nerves to me. He never even came close to running his best time. He was literally .3 seconds behind his Olympic trials time of 13.03 which had he ran, would have won him gold. He's definitely a freak athlete and deserved to be there, but like Conan said, smothering wasn't quite right. Maybe nerves, maybe a muscle strain or fatigue, who knows. But his best times earned him a spot and he showed well, just couldn't quite put it together. I bet he does in 2020, he will be 25, probably the prime age I would assume for a hurdler (not knowing anything about track, that's just an assumption)

They are saying he's gonna miss a couple games due to the Olympics. And Oregon just lost Carrigan. New qb. Oregon looks like one of those teams where they are gonna struggle early on but maybe catch some fire and hurt other people's chances for big time bowl games

Or they are gonna just not be good all year.

Oregon lost carrigan?? I'm assuming you mean Darren carrington, and where are the reports on this? I haven't seen any such thing; everything I typed in to the search engines show he's healthy and eligible..... Just wondering where his came from

Just talked with my good friend in Eugene and he confirmed carrington got hurt in practice and the ducks won't reveal anything as to the type or extent of the injury. So there's no timetable for return. Good call on your part thundercat

Not looking good for the ducks, Shoulder injuries and ankle injuries i tend not to like on athletes. New qb on a new team even if he does know the system. And then Allen wont be back at least for i would say minium the first 2 games maybe 4 as he will hvae to get accustomed to football and truly give his body a rest from his olympic stuff he was on.

Charles Nelson to the rescue... I bet I'm right about that.
He was moved from the defense to WR last spring.

Too bad about Carrington though. All the Ducks could be
losing here is about 6 inches in height. Nelson is a very
talented and fast athlete. He's no stranger either.

WR Dillon Mitchell also was hurt yesterday with a knee injury, he was the most impressive WR in Oregon's spring game and would be a huge loss if it's serious injury.

Heard that cb Seisay left the program. Probablynot a starter, but experienced. And with the way the pac 12 is, you can never have enough db's. Oregon is getting off in a rough way.

Owow...
That is good news. I was hoping to point out that now the Ducks have one of the best trios of
receivers in the sport. Carrington, Allen and Nelson. More great targets for Prukop to throw to.
Things probably just got a lot easier for him. His senior experience has given him the ability to
check down his receivers pretty well and that counts for a lot. 2 minute TD drives again... here
we come.

Great point about the wrs Conan, they are all very good! However, with prukop being a senior transfer and understanding his check downs, I feel the most underrated part of the ducks offense will be their TE attack. They have 3 senior TEs that are all very talented. Mundt is an excellent blocker and play action TE, Pharos brown at 6'6 is a clear mismatch in the red zone who they will utilize a lot this year, and Baylis is a combination of both who gets little attention, but is probably the best route runner of the 3 and always seems to find separation from the defender. If Oregon is smart they get back to their roots of the zone read with an athletic qb like himself, and work play action to the TE's all game... With as much focus that goes into Royce freeman and the speedy WRs, prukop and the TEs will have multiple opportunities throughout every game for momentum shifting plays. I'm sure helfrich and lubick understand that, but I truly hope the exploit their TE mismatches
