OK jimmymo, you stole my thunder. (just kidding)

I was going to do a write-up on this one later but since you brought it up I'll do it now.

Let's get the stats out of the way.
-Oregon averages 290 passing yards against teams giving up an average of 234 yards.
-Oregon gives up an average of 282 passing yards against teams averaging 230 yards.

-ASU averages 252 passing yards against teams giving up an average of 235 yards.
-ASU gives up an average of 271 yards against teams averaging 242 passing yards.

In other words, both teams are good passing teams with bad pass defenses.

I think one reason this line may be so low is that ASU averages 19 points per game. This includes the games when QB Walter was not in his groove. The last game against USC, Walter regained some of his form to pass for 305 yards. Now that Walter has regained his form look for him to pass for another 300+ yards.

Previous scores-
2002:
ASU 45, Oregon 42

2001:
Oregon 42, ASU 24

I see no reason why this game should be any different than previous years.

BGO,

i merely set the stage...nice write-up..once i read it, i hammered this one at 55 1/2...i think both teams will be easily in the 20's by halftime.

56 points averages out to 7 points per team per quarter. It's really the history of this matchup that put me over the edge to bet on this. That, along with Walter finally getting some decent passing numbers.

Walter will have his week on Saturday and bury the Oregon secondary. There is no bigger "QUIT" team in the Pac 10 than Oregon. They think they are the shit, and once they find out they are not, the throw in the towel. Consider the towel thrown in. Still, Koetter needs to let the horses loose and quit trying to be cute with the run and ball control. Just throw bombs on every play and they will score 40 on Oregon.

Agreed and already jumped on this one. I see the line move higher by Saturday. But with the way these two teams have played this year and shot themselves in the foot, not as easy a bet as we think.

Geek:

You are right. Any QB can have a bad day. Walter has sucked in a couple games this year so it's not out of the question. But I think now that he has a good game behind him and he's going against Oregon's pass defense that he will do well.

Good luck.

This line just jumped from 55 1/2 to 57. Looks like the books hung another bad line.

Wow, 59 1/2 is a big jump from 55 1/2...as for the Houston/Tulane game, its gonna be a track meet...65 last I checked -- can't see it falling.

Looks like Andrew Walter got his arm back. I didn't realize ASU would get this total by themselves.

ASU 59, Oregon 14.

I took that Ole Miss UNDER 57 bet that you suggested, was sweating it until the end. Final score: Ole Miss 55, Ark. State 0. Thanks for the winner jimmymo!
