To be honest I have never made a tennis bet in my life. Is it only action if the listed players are playing? If so then maybe it is no bet. Have you tried calling them?

Most books will void this bet, since it is a different opponent.

It looks like the match with Norman was 3-3, 1st set, and then Norman must have retired from injury.

This other guy, I assume, is the replacement for Norman.

if a guy retires from a match they do not start over with another guy! If Norman retired then your bet should be a winner unless they have stipulations in ur books rules that state that all tennis bets need for the match to go the distance.

All I can think of is that Frank Moser is the next round opponent and they are playing the 2nd round?

jaateluv:

I've never heard of that either.

The reason I said that's what it looks like might have happened is because Yahoo Tennis has the followoing first round scores:

Tommy Robredo 3
Magnus Norman 3

Frank Moser 7 6 0
Tommy Robredo 5 7 1

I'm actually not 100% sure what this means. Maybe Yahoo just screwed up.

Scott,

Let the boys here at the 'ol Rx know if the wager is graded anything but "no action".

Scott:

If the match with Norman never actually began (in other words, if there wasn't even a single point played), 99.5% of books grade this "No Action".

If they actually did play a certain number of games/points, and then Norman retired, this is handled 3 different ways, depending on the book:

1. With most books, the bet stands if at least 1 point is played.

2. The second most common rule, is that all bets are "No Action", unless the match is played to completion.

3. The 3rd rule (not used by many books) is that the bet stands if at least one set is complete.

Olympic adheres to the 1st rule, where the bet stands as long as at least one point is played.

SO HALIFAX IF THE MATCH WITH NORMAN ENDED AT 3-3 IS IT FAIR TO SAY I SHOULD WIN THE WAGER?

Normally, yes (with Olympic). If the match ended 3-3, Norman retired, and Robredo moved on to the next round, your bet should be graded a Win.

Having said that, I don't have a clue what's actually happening with this match, since Yahoo shows it 3-3, but also shows Robredo playing (and beating) this new guy Moser.

WELL HALIFAX I REALLY THINK I SHOULD WIN THIS WAGER BECAUSE THEY PLAYED 3 SETS AND NORMAN RETIRED AND THEY FOR GOOD MEASURES ROBREDO WENT ON TO THE THE MATCH FROM THE OTHER GUY TOO (NOT THAT I KNEW HE WOULD IT WAS LOOKING KINDA SHAKY LOL)

I FEEL I SHOULD WIN THE BET NOT JUST GET MY MONEY BACK CUZ YOU BEAT YOU ASS IF ROBREDO WOULD HAVE RETIRED AFTER 3 SETS THEY WOULDA GRADED ME A LOSER SO FAST YOUR HEAD WOULD HAVE SPINNED

NOW I AM PLAYING THE WAITING GAME THEY HAVE TO "RESEARCH" THE ISSUE..

Wisest thing to do here is get ahold of the greek's C.S team before the match ends and get a response as to how they are going to handle it

Looking back at the situation, my opinion would be that since Robredo played a few sets against Norman, and then Norman dropped out, that the wager should be graded a Win. Whether or not Robredo later beat Moser, or even the fact that he played Moser at all, should not have affected the grading of the bet.

Olympic did the right thing, again.

Glad you got it resolved, one of the nice things about a book like Olympic is they will do the right thing.
