I'm not going, but I read Lafleur, and Gretzky were going to play at some point.
Actually mentioned in the story above.

Hey habsman, you seem to be a fan of every Montreal team like the Expos and the Canadiens. Why?? Are you originally from Montreal? And what the hell is that with your Avatar of a clown? What are you trying to do, embarass us Montrealers? You're going to make us look bad here. You should not have a clown for an avatar man!! Seeing you're a habs fans, why not set your avatar like this...

Yea, good idea...I do need an avatar change.
I'm making a request now.
My parents grew up in Sudbury...all my relatives live in Montreal...My Dad comes from a family of 10....all Habs fans...when I was growing up everything revolved around the Habs games...Everything...still does actually.
I only go to Montreal to see Habs games, and I bought a couple of seats from the forum when it closed, I even got Guy Lafleur to sign a bottle of Flower Power when he was peddling it.
I have a hockey card of every Hab since I was born, and actually the year I was born, The Habs won the Cup.
I think that pretty much sums it up.

Hey habsman, you didn't tell me where you live now, and you didn't say your age, so when you say you grew up with the Habs, are you talking about the 70's, 80' or 90's habs. I grew up idolizing Guy Lafleur, and watched the whole dynasty of 4 straight Stanley Cups in the late 70's. Boy were those great times for the Sick One. But how can you be still a habsfan, who cares about them now. They are not like before. Just a bunch of no names with no superstars. I could care less about them now, and not even a fan like I used to be growing up. I am just so happy and privileged that I grew up in this city with the likes of Lafleur, Richer, Lemaire, Robinson, Shutt, Mahovlich, Dryden, and got to see them play growing up, than this crap they have today with only Koivu and Theodore who kids can idolize, and a bunch of unknowns. Sometimes when I see a kid with a Habs shirt on the street playing ball hockey (which is every corner here in Montreal) I feel like stopping and telling him stories of how it was here 25 yrs ago, and how he would have loved the team back then 200 times more than today and what he has missed. Oh well, but then again, I have 55 yr olds telling me how lucky they were and unlucky i am that I missed The Rocket and Beliveau in their hay days. True, I would have paid anything to have seen them play live just once.

Good luck kid, and nice move on the avatar, and I am very happy you got rid of that silly clown. Now you look like a real man.

I grew up with the 70/80's Habs....I still follow them because I just can't cheer for another team, and I live in Costa Rica now, haven't left for 5 years.
I get all my info on the net, but I rarely get a chance to see a game on TV direct TV doesn't even have a hockey package here, so maybe that's why I don't get too frustrated with them.
Very cool to here from somebody that was following The same generation of The Habs that I was.
I have always wanted to live in Montreal, especially in the 70-80's when they were winning....it must have been a tremendous feeling.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Oilers CRUSH the Habs in the Oldtimers game. Have you seen the lineups? Oh man, it's not fair.

Sounds awesome, hope it is on Directv. Reading Habs and Nanuk talking about the good old days sounds like any of the Original 6 cities outside of Detroit. I am a Blackhawk fan and it too depressing there. Cannot get any Blackhawk home games on TV, they draw 10,000 fans now. Too many teams have weakened the league. The labor issues have to be settled before the league can move forward.

Oilers would crush them - but I have a feeling a friendly game will be close.

I dunno. That 1977 Habs team 60-8-12 was pretty damn good. If they had 4 on 4 OT back then I am sure they would have won 6-8 of their ties for a season pt total that no team would ever match.

Yea that was 27 years ago....these guys are pushing 50 now....the guys on the oilers squad are at least 10 years younger...and what about the Habs goalie tandem for the game....where is Patrick Roy?

LMAO! I thought we were playing the 1977 Habs vs the 80s Oilers not the current really old Habs vs the aging Oilers. Oilers are too young and fast even with Roy in net. All we need now is Denis Herron and Steve Penny on the bench and we could relive the dark days of the 80s.

If I recall the scouting report on Penney, shoot high on him. he couldn't stop the Nordiques and I don't think he's gonna shut down the Oilers. Where's Chris Nilan to stir up some trouble when we need him??????

Might have 2 extra tickets if my bud and wife don't go.

Habs will roll and Knuckles Nilan is going for the Great one at the drop of the puck!! Cement hands Semenko will not be able to protect him LOL

I sure wish the Habs would have came up with some better goalies....c'mon Dryden lace them up!! What about you Roy!!!
