HOME TEAM IN CAPS
ST. MARY’S +4 over Gonzaga
You’ll recall just a couple of weeks ago that the Gaels went into Gonzaga and as an 8½-point dog they gave the Bulldogs a real scare and it says here that they’ll finish the job tonight. Yeah, the Bulldogs are tough but underestimating the Gaels would be a big mistake and the reason the Bulldogs are a four-point choice is because they’re much better known and the Gaels have dropped three of its last four. However, St. Mary’s is still undefeated at home with a 9-0 record, they had a 15-game winning streak at one point to go along with an 18-1 record and they’ll be very ready for this one. The Gaels have a wealth of talent and they’re a dominant rebounding team that is pulling down nearly nine more boards per contest than the opposition. The Zags are tough too, however, they still lost on the road at both Arizona and Utah, not to mention a home loss to Portland St. In its last outing against #15 Memphis, the Zags were buried at home 68-50. These two teams are so alike and not much separates them in terms of talent. The Zags won their home game against the Gaels, barely, and there’s no reason to believe that the Gaels can’t do the same on its home floor. The money line is very tempting indeed here but these 4 points is just too many to pass up even though I’m calling the upset. Play: St. Mary’s +4½ (Risking 2.2 units to win 2).
