South Carolina +1.65 over Maryland
The Terps favored over the Gamecocks? C’mon, give us a break. Without doubt, South Carolina is the better team and should in no way be getting a tag like this. The four points being offered is extremely appealing but if we like the four points than we like them to win outright and will gladly and confidently play it that way. Maryland has beaten Oral Roberts, Davidson and TCU to get here and the players are buying into the theory that it’s because of their full court press strategy that they’re playing “so much better”. Yeah, ok coach. Maryland simply outplayed inferior competition in Oral Roberts, Davidson and Texas Christian to reach the NIT semifinals, end of story. There are glaring weaknesses for Maryland that can be exploited, beginning and ending on defense. It’s a crapshoot each half whether the Terrapins will defend. Williams has called this his most inconsistent team in 37 years of coaching. The Gamecocks this year have beaten Kentucky and Miami and lost by fewer than five points to Kansas, Pittsburgh and Florida To reach the semifinals, South Carolina beat Georgetown, 69-66, last week. The Gamecocks are a well-coached team and they’re playing exceptionally well. The full court press will not work against S.C and that means easy buckets for the doggie. Lastly, the Terrapins have no inside presence and have been dominated all year inside. Nothing is going to change tonight. Play: South Carolina +1.65 (Risking 1.5 units).
