This will be a very tough test for the Monarchs. ODU has already locked up the NUMBER one seed in this conference...
Hofstra is extremely playing well, having won 8 out of their last 9 conference games. They started out the season winning their first 9 games, then stumbled in the middle of the year by losing 5 out of 6, before they got red hot again...
ODU was very fortunate to beat them at Hostra on January 19 by one point, 67-66, during Hofstra's stumble in mid season. In fact, one of Hofstra's better BIG MEN, namely Wendell Gibson, was injured for that game and did not play.
Also, ODU shot 9 out of 15 from three point land, compared to 5 out of 20 from Hofstra. Hofstra's best guard and a lock for FIRST TEAM CAA this year, Loren Stokes scored 21 points and gives ODU match up fits.
Hofstra also outrebounded ODU 36-27, and snared down 17 Offensive Rebounds...
Incidentally, the only other time TWO times I went against ODU at HOME was when they played St. Joseph's and Delaware but did they did not cover either of those games..
HOFSTRA is battling 4 other CAA teams for the 3'rd and 4th seeds in this conference's tournament...
When I take a DOG getting 7 1/2 points, I like to believe that the DOG has a chance of not only covering but WINNING, and I feel that way tonight about this LIVE one, HOFSTRA...
Best of Luck,
THE SHRINK
