I think once a while Americans need a 'slap in the face' so they realise that:

(A) Superpower status does not last very long; the age of superpowers lasting hundreds of years is long gone. Took the British empire 50 years to go from peak to much reduced status, 1900-1950. The Soviet Union looked strong, particularly militarily and look what happened in a matter of years, 1980s-1989. The best thing to do is acknowledge your limitations as a country and know that another country or supranational bloc will take your place in the world stage as a superpower and there is nothing rational your country can do.

(B) It is arrogance that will help 'bring down' your country. The belief that you are always right and the rest of the world 'should know better'. This really pisses a lot of people off but you don't care until someone does something to get your attention (hint).

(C) This 'War on Terrorism' should be a real attempt to ask 'why do they hate us' and not to simply answer this question by saying 'they are jealous' in order to get through the night. Really ask yourself, I don't see terrorists attacking Norway or China...why do they choose to attack the US?

(C) Learn about the rest of the world in order to understand it better; read foreign newspapers, travel more, talk to people from other nationalities/religions. An open mind is a mind that is willing to learn and evolve. A closed mind is one that is full of hatred and bigotry, where only ignorance prevails.

ROTFLMAO, good one. 70% of all world commerce is in USD, the US governement is the single largest customer in the world. Our country though only 200+yrs old has advanced mankind more than all of the rest combined. We are a real superpower, not some wannabee, we dominate all facets of mankind.

Wow so much anger and hatred inside both of you, all i was asking you to be was open-minded. Whatever happened to a friendly exchange of ideas? We are here on Earth to do one thing, which is to learn and evolve; I believe in achieving those things from other people or else I wouldn't waste my time here (then again I am gambling). I had hoped to get a nice and relevant discussion going on but I see you two are not capable of that. Therefore i'm just going to ignore all the irrevelant crap and focus on the parts that have any potential for a serious discussion.

As for the last point, I am not asking you to read about the inner workings of terrorists, interpreted by a modern Freud, my point is really simple, it is just that the more one learns about the world, the more one will understand it. Americans have a tendency to think that they are an island in the middle of an ocean....maybe for a while that was possible but globalisation has changed that and in order to get ahead in this world i believe it is important to try to understand it.

I am not anti-american, in fact I admire many things about your country but the fact is that when a country is a superpower such as yours it bears a certain amount of responsability. If u bear the benefit you must also bear the burden. And one must understand that your actions have much consequence around the world and you need to be aware of that.

As much as the US has given in aid over the past several years, it is not the highest as expressed as a percentage of GDP by a longshot. And, the US of course HAS done much good in the past, but it seems that since the fall of the Soviet Union and the understood declaration that the US is now the only superpower, a tremendous amount of abuse of that power is becoming more and more apparent on a global level.

I live in London, if the US were to crumble tomorrow it sure wouldn't be in my best interest at all. London would probably be next to collapse as there are many American controlled multi-national corporations here. There most certainly would be a recession and maybe even a depression.

It is common knowledge that any nation or individual will hate the superpower. Look at the Roman Empire. I love the United States and truly believe in it's principles. Nevertheless, I admit that it isn't a perfect nation.

Than again, which country is? Look at France, they hate the U.S., yet in the mid 90's they did some extreme nuclear testing that was extremely damaging to the environment.

Regarding the war in Iraq, and their major opposition against the US. I honestly believe that they gave a 2 cents crap about the Iraqi people. They only wanted to protect their investments and contracts with Saddam's government.

Regarding 9/11, terrorists hold an extreme grudge against the U.S. friendship towards Isreal. The problem between the Jews and the Muslims extends all the way back when Abraham dumped the Egyptian slave with her son to the Desert. Nevertheless, flying two airplanes to the World Trade Center has absolutely no excuse nor justification because it was committed against civilians.

If they want to wage war, than they should do it against the military. Not that I am saying that they should kill U.S. soldiers because they are just as important as anyone else. Anyhow, their cause against America has caused a major retaliatory responce behalf of the U.S. government and it will continue for many years or even decades to come.

Anyhow, it is obvious that I don't agree with you, but I will never tell you to go F>>>your self because I am above that.

Also all the guys saying that every medical breakthrough has come from the U.S. and we are the greatest always will be etc... very funny. The U.S. is a great country in many ways. It's a scientific and economic leader. But unless you are the fukkin guy who won the Nobel prize for medicine or designed the 'ultra-secret' weapon systems may I suggest you shut the hell up and show a little humility. Just be thankful you were lucky enough to be born where you were.

BTW, not to be a dick but there are 10 countries with a higher ratio of Nobel Prizes to population than the U.S. . . . America does not have a monopoly on science and tech breakthroughs.

Nobody deserves to die needlessly and an American life is of no more value then any other life on Earth. People die everyday, its a fact of life. I wonder if the millions of people who died of starvation or disease (or even murdered) got 0.000000001% as much coverage as 11/09/01 but that is beyond the point.
