I like Dsethi's style and how he thinks.

I guess noone has seen how Lloyd Carr's playcalling vs Notre Dame in the past. I don't know what to expect from ND, BUT I know what Mich will bring - usually ***** play-calling.

Thanks, Fairwarning, i appreciate it big guy.
You're right about the playcalling, i think Carr just relies too much on his athletes making plays. Pretty easy thing to do when you've got Braylon making ridiculous plays (see him vs. MSU in OT), Hart running thru big holes, and Steve Breaston returning everything he touches to the 'zone.

Better playcalling might have given them sole possession of the Big Ten title last year...

i wrote this in another post and i'ms ticking with it, ND will not lose a game this year by more than 17 points. just don't see this happening under Weiss...and yes, i know the line is +13

I'm no ND fan and I've faded them repeatedly under the last two coaches. And new coaches don't necessarily turn things around quickly... BUT....ND +3 at Pitt? Are you kidding me? Pitt loses their go-to guy and much else and now has the brain-dead Wannie on the sidelines? Wannie himself should be worth 4 points to every opponent. Call me a sucker but I think the sell sign is off on the Irish and now on the Panthers....

And Florida only a 1 pt. chalk at home vs. the Vols? Chomp chomp. As exciting as Vols fans think their QB Ainge might be, let's not forget the Gators' Leak likely will be better...especially with a coach who understands offenses now coaching him. If Urban Meyer can make Alex Smith a #1 draft choice, what will he do with Leak who has oodles more athletic talent? And let's not forget something about the Vols defense under John Chavous. Their defensive backfield was often a clusterfreak against Spurrier and other "five wide and let em fly" offenses who spread them out and beat their "read and react" defenses. I'd think Meyer will come at the VOls with so many different looks, Chavious and his backfield will be over-matched. The only times in recent years that Tenn won in Gainesville were when they had much more talent on defense than the Gators that they could win despite Chavous' weak defensive schemes. That isn't the case this year.

The FLA game defintiely caught my eye...Leak primed for a Heisman run, Urban at the helm, creative, Tennessee "underachieving" every year seemingly, not to mention the horrible ending to last year's game...this could be a BIG PLAY on the side of the Gators

If I may...

I would like to give a first person account of this UF v. UT rivalry. Steve Spurrier's fun n' gun was the bane of every Vol fans existence during the mid 90's. We could not beat them, didn't matter if it was home or away. Finally, a little light went off in Fulmer's head. Since we can't outscheme this team let's try to beat them up. And guess what, it worked! This was due to outstanding line play on both sides of the ball. An O-Line that could line it up and run down hill and a D-Line that could apply pressure with just the front 4. This year's Tennessee squad fits that mold. The strength of the team is going to be it's line play on both sides of the ball. Urban Meyer might be able to revive the fun n' gun but the strategy used to beat it won't change. Make it a fist fight not a beauty contest. Just my 2 cents.

There are Div I-A & Div II teams in Florida that could beat Wyoming at home by 14+.....let alone the Gators.

The Cowhicks will go from their nice cool & dry 7K ft elevation to Gainesville in the first week of Sept. It it isn't completely ugly by have, it will be by the end of the game.

Dunno why you guys seem to be down on Pitt. What go to guy are you referring to that they lost? Their go to guy on offense was WR Greg Lee (6th in the nation with 108 yards receiving per game) and he is back this year. Have heard nothing but positive reports out of Pitt all spring. Wanny has done an excellent job of recruiting the western PA players (something Walt Harris was lacking in). Palko really matured at QB as the season went along and they are expecting big things from him this year. Most of the key players on defense remain intact (including 3 really good linebackers). This was a young team last year and they will be an all around better team this year than the one who won the Big East last year. On top of that, the hiring of Wanny and his recruiting has the town buzzing about Pitt football. Nobody here liked Walt Harris - Wandstedt is definitely an upgrade. This team will be right in contention with Lousiville for another Big East title. Heinz Field will be packed and will be rocking for the Season opener vs ND - spread looks about right to me.

HEinz will be packed but I'd expect a halfway decent ND contigent at the game. Seems like Pennsylvanians take a liking to the catholic institution...should be a heck of game though, specially after Palko burned ND last year in South Bend, thank Mike GOolsby for not being able to make a tackle on the biggest play of the game (TE catch in the flats, breaks it for a huge gain).

No doubt there will be a large ND contingent at the game. Quite a few ND fans here in Western PA/Eastern Ohio. Agree that it will be a good game. Have been tight battles the last couple years with the road team winning each game. Will be interesting to see how Weis and Wandstedt do at the college level.

Was priviliged to see a truly awesome display at Heinz Field 2 years ago...Julius Jones absolutely tearing apart Pitt's D for 262, yes, count them, two-hundred and sixty-two yards on the ground. If you ever got the chance to see him run in college, he was a truck, he ran around, by, and THROUGH people, including his own teamates at times!

on a side note, in 2000 he was the only player on ESPN Magazine's "All-Pros in 2010 (i think it was 2010, could have been 2008) that was currently in college; the rest were in the pros.
don't think many are doubting this prediction now...

Gerald Riggs Jr. is a beast...and Tennessee is tough, no doubt.

But fuck the Vols. They're going down. Their smashmouth, beat 'em up style that Fullmer thought up when you said "the light went off" didn't exactly work last year. High scoring game, and should've been a Vols loss had it not been for that officiating blunder.

Tennessee? Tough? The same team that had it's top 3 quarterbacks on the DL at some point during the season?
AND they lost their best offensive lineman in Munoz...can't remember if he even played last year due to injury, but it doesn't matter. They had the two most talented Freshman QBs shelved last year b/c of their line. I don't see Ainge surviving in the Swamp.

Sad day when ND's rival USC is laying 17.5 on the road in historic Notre Dame Stadium...Weiss to the rescue this year

PKJ- Nice writeup on the Pitt program. However, they are switching to a more run oriented attack, and i'm not sure how the O will react now that the pass happy days of Walt are gone.....

You ever play any tourneys in the WPa area? I usually play in one or two per week.....

Hey Racer - Will be interesting to see how well Pitt is able to run the ball this year. Wanny and new off cordinator Matt Canavanaugh have said all spring that he wants to have a balanced attack. Looks like Kirkley will get the first crack at the HB job but it's still a pretty wide open race from what I hear. The coaching staff raved about freshman Rashad Jennings after the spring game. There were times last year when Pitt ran the ball effectively. But the strength of the offense still will be the passing game this year. Lee should have another huge season.

I don't play many live tournaments anymore. Mostly just an internet player - Much more convenient and time efficient.

After the way Palko played to end the year, gaining national attention with his passing, if Pitt tries to be balanced and doesn't win games this way, you better believe the fans and media will be clamoring for more of an aerial assault. We'll see how the running game fares, but Palko opened alot of eyes last year and i think Wanstedt will eventually have to let him and Lee loose on the defenses they play.
