Having grown up and attended college in Mississippi, these are the two teams I know best. As many of you know, we've made a fortune this season going against State and, for the most part, with the Rebels. The next two teams I know best are Florida and Florida St. I lived in Sarasota when Bobby Bowden first came to FSU and have followed his illustrious career ever since.
Anyway, back to the subject at hand. First of all, back in September when several of the books offered "games of the year" where you could place bets on certain games later in the season, I wagered on two of them. One was FSU over Notre Dame at -8, and I think the final spread was -13, and of course they won by 37 or something. And the other was Ole Miss over Miss St at -4. Right now I wish I had put a whole helluva lot more money on that one, having no idea it would be around -20 by game week.
Anyway, since I know these teams almost too well, I was wondering what some of you who might be more objective think about this game. On the one hand, I see Ole Miss a far superior squad who could literally blow State off the map. On the other hand, this is probably the first game in months that MSU is really interested in. They would love nothing more than to send their beloved (?) Sherrill off with a fine upset over their hated arch rival. The Dawgs will scrape and claw in this one and try to make sure the Rebs don't make it to Atlanta in the event of an Arkansas upset over LSU (which is not, IMO, that far-fetched.) The Rebs have played several back-to-back games with great intensity. Could they slack off against a wounded foe, even though that foe is their hated rival?
I'd love to hear some opinions on this game. Even though I am quite comfy already having the Rebels at -4, I'm still considering putting some action on the game as it is. I just haven't decided which side to go with. What do you think?
