We start the day early with the Armed Forces Bowl matching Air Force and Houston. This is a re-match of an earlier season game that was moved to Dallas due to Hurricane Ike and was won by the Falcons 31-28 in rainy and windy conditions. The Cougars were down 31-7 late in the third quarter but the Cougars made a huge comeback to almost win the game. They outgained Air Force 534-380 yards. Conditions will be different here, as the Cougars have seen the option and AF didn't complete one pass in the game. Expecting to see the Cougars gain huge chunks of yardage here and pull clear of a pretty much one dimensional Falcon squad. Hence,

4* Houston -3.5 (-110) Betjamaica

Next we have the Sun Bowl matching Pittsburgh and Oregon State. The Beavers had their eyes set directly on the Rose Bowl until they were demolished at home by in state rival Oregon 65-38. Meanwhile Pittsburgh finished strongly with wins over West Virginia and Connecticut. Big, big injury issue here for the Beavers as both Rodgers brothers are out for this game. That makes them one dimensional going against a tough Panther defense and the Beavers don't live by the pass but may die by it here. Hence,

4* Pittsburgh +2.5 (-110) Betjamaica

Year To Date Record: 35-25-2 (+29.31)

5* (3-1)(+9.50)
4* (7-5-2)(+6.52)
3* (25-19)(+13.29)

5* Florida -3 (-110) Pending

Be back tomorrow with additional plays. Good Luck All.

Next we have the Music City Bowl matching Boston College and Vanderbilt. To be blunt, the offense of the Commodores is awful and will find it very difficult to move the ball against the Eagles. If they score, it might come via turnovers. Meanwhile, the Eagles have been limited since the loss of QB Crane but freshman Davis has improved with a couple of starts under his belt. Realize the crowd will be supporting Vandy here, but just believe Boston College will due more with their possessions then Vanderbilt and eventually grind out the win. Hence,

3* Boston College -5 (-110) 5Dimes

The Insight Bowl matches Minnesota with Kansas. Not sure I understand the line movement here as Kansas has played the far better Big 12 competition and should be able to score consistently against the Minnesota defense. The Golpers limp into this game following a thrashing by Iowa 55-0 while the Jayhawks come off a 40-37 win over Missouri. Golphers have no running game to speak of and can't really stop anyone, so I'll side with the better team in this spot. Hence,

3* Kansas - 8 (-110) 5Dimes

Still studying the Chick-fil-A-Bowl.

Good Luck All.

The day comes to an end with the Chick-fil-A-Bowl matching LSU with Georgia Tech. The Tigers ended their season on the downturn following the overtime loss to Alabama by almost losing to Troy and then losing to Mississippi and Arkansas. They are likely to use a two to three quarterback rotation today and try to ground out yardage with Scott. Their defense has not been up to past year standards yielding significant points. Looking at their schedule, it is hard to find any quality wins. Perhaps Auburn and South Carolina but they got stomped by Florida and Georgia, as well as losses to Mississippi State. Meanwhile, the Yellowjackets finished off a very successful season by beating in state rival Georgia on the road. They clobbered Mississippi State as well as beating Florida State, Boston College, Clemson, Miami with a close loss to Virginia Tech. Only North Carolina beat them handily. They spread out their opponents and strike with Dwyer. In the past years, taking LSU as an underdog in a bowl game would be a no brainer, but this team is just a shadow of past teams. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech has been playing at a very high level and are excited about being in this bowl and facing LSU.
Simply have to go with the hotter, better team in this match-up. Hence,

3* Georgia Tech -4 (-110) 5Dimes

Here's wishing each and everyone of you a very Happy New Year and may you are be blessed with good health and happiness.
