Oldmans Pick For Monday 5/10/04

Coming off a 1-0 day yesterday winning with New Jersey. Today, my focus is on Game 3 of the Minnesota/Sacramento series.

So far this has been an interesting series, with Sacramento taking Game 1, 104-98, by virtue of excellent ball movement and shooting and better play from the bench then the Wolves. As expected, in Game 2 Minnesota came out with much more energy, took command at half time by 10 points, only to see the Kings wipe out that lead and hold a 10 point lead themselves with less then 4 minutes to play and then not score again for the rest of the game and lose 89-94. So what is one to expect today? Feeling here is that the Kings have shown, that even in the face of the Wolves desperate effort in Game 2, they are able to execute their sets and should have won both games of this series. The difference in these teams still is significant from off the bench with Miller and Peeler versus Olowakandi and Hoiberg. No doubt the Wolves were on an emotional high after their comeback in Game 2, but that being said, expect to see an even more focused and determined Kings team tonight at home in Arco with even better shot making and more creative play. The line seems quite fair for what appears to be the better team. Hence,

As you no doubt have probably noticed, I am purposely trying to be very selective and only posting my strongest play of the day to the forum if, and only if, I feel comfortable with the play. Some days, there will be no plays as I may not feel strongly enough about a side or total on any given day. I do anticipate releasing a play tomorrow. It just so happens that recently, I have been comfortable enough with a side to make it a release to the forum. So far, things seem to be working out nicely.

That being said in an effort to answer your question, in today's Indiana/Miami game, at the current lines, I neither have a lean or opinion on either the side or total. Nor do I have a lean or opinion on the total of the Minnesota/Sacramento game. However, with that in mind, one could be creative if one so chooses to develop line value in their favor in both of these games (hint).

Last, I very much appreciate your confidence in my opinion and hope that you will understand my rationale in deciding what to post. I am really trying to help my fellow posters, members and viewers and part of that includes being responsible and selective as well as providing proper money management guidelines. As always, wishing you the very best of success with your plays throughout the playoffs.

It's tough for me to judge the betting direction on this particular game because my sense is there will be balanced wagering on both sides of this game. The line could go back down to 5 or could go to 6. I don't think it will go up or down beyond these numbers. Therefore, I would take still play it at 5.5. Waiting, you might find only 6 available and thus would have to win by 7. Although, once again, my sense, for what it's worth is that 5.5 will be available even if some shops go to 6. Tough call here.

Nice to see you. Hope you are well. In order to get over the .500 mark had to overcome the second game of the Lakers and Rockets game in Round 1, where I had three separate plays on the game. Rockets +7.5, U178, and a second half of Rockets +6. Everything looked pretty good with the Rockets ahead at the half 46-42, but the wheels came off and it was three loses in one game. It was the only game I had multiple releases. Had I just played the side, I would currently stand at 7-4. Currently on a bit of a small run coming back from starting 2-4 after that game with 3 wins and a push in the last 4. The push being Indiana with a come from ahead tie. No complaints here. Just grinding away.
