Hi Guys:

Just returned from spending the last two weeks in Las Vegas which was truly both enjoyable and profitable during both the NCAA and NIT tournaments. Didn't have my laptop with me so don't really know how everyone has been doing. Vegas is a very special place to be during tournament time and this year proved to be highly entertaining. Hope everyone has been enjoying the tournaments and being successful in their selections. Just wanted to say hello and wish you all the best of luck in the Final Four as well as the NIT.

Welcome back my friend. I am glad to hear that you at least had a great tournament. I stinked up the joint, if you didnt know. Anyways, I have called it quits for the CBB season, and will take a bit of that success and put it to the bases, and use the majority on Football. I am very glad and blessed to have you in this forum Ted, you bring so much of the missing element through your vast experience and knowledge, to us all. I will be looking forward to putting into use that article you have written on Money Management, just simply invaluble piece of advise that you so generously shared with us ALL. Thank you so much my friend, and I will definately be keeping in touch with you in the future. GL the rest of the way. Aloha CC.

oldmanted: great to have you back. i spent the first weekend of the tournament in vegas. my buddies and i spent alot of our time at caesars palace. what a great place to watch the ncaa tourney. when you guys said that you had to arrive early you werent a kidding. we ended up standing the first 2 days of the tourney. on sat we decided to set the alarm for 4am soo we knew that we would get a seat. im telling you the hysteria that goes on there that first weekend is amazing. i am already counting down the days to next year. i believe that we will make this an annual event. welcome back, and oh by the way. where did you spend most of your time? i am always curious to hear about others side of the story. ballys, paris, stardust and venetian were all packed to the rafters as well. i just thought that the clientele at caesars was great, met alot of great people from all over the country their. what a great time. take care

Captain:

Thank you. Yes, too date a very selective yet successful tournament and will have at least one play for Saturday. Sorry to hear that you had a tough tournament, but certainly a successful two months prior. Tournament capping can be a real challenge at times. Definitely different then the regular season. Glad to hear you enjoyed my article on Money Mangement. My pleasure to share my thoughts. Good luck to you in the upcoming baseball season as you wait for football season to arrive. I know the feeling. It will be here before you know it.

Thank you. Sorry to hear that your tournament didn't go as well as you would have hoped. As mentioned to the Captain, tournament capping can be extremely challenging and can get the best of many. It takes time, but it will come around for you in future tournaments. Just keep up the hard work during the regular season and use what you've learned about each team and you will surely become more successful in March. Best wishes to you in the future.

Nice to be back. Thank you. Sorry to hear that you've had a tough tournament. But, still ahead are both the NBA and NHL playoffs. By June, you will surely have made March a distant memory. Best of luck to you as we go forward.

It was a great time in Vegas wasn't it? There was an article I believe either in the USA Today or the Las Vegas Review Journal that showed that the amount of money wagered on the NCAA tournament surpasses the amount wagered on the Superbowl.

As to where I spent my time. I stay in a two bedroom condominum on the strip which I own a share in. As for wagering, I too was at Caesars as well as the Hilton, Bellagio and Mirage. I like to rotate each of the days to keep a fresh new feeling to each day. Since I was there through the Sweet 16, I was able to rotate around quite a bit. Did you know that at Caesars, the front area was reserved for 45 players who place down a minimum of 10 dimes per play?

Your thoughts about making this an annual event are more common than you can imagine. I would highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to experience the excitement of the tournament yet keep some control over their emotions as well as their bankroll. If one can, it can be a joyous event. Continued good luck to you and glad you had a great time.

BuckEyez:

Thanks for the welcome. Always nice to hear from you but very sorry to hear that the tournament was hard on you. I'm beginning to get the impression that to some degree the forum, although not everyone, may have had a less than successful tournament too date. I am saddened to hear this as before I left for Vegas, the forum was on fire with many capable handicappers doing very well. It makes me wish that I had brought my laptop and at least shared my selections although I'm not sure, even though I have had a good tournament too date, how much my selections would have helped. What I've decided to do in this reply is to present the plays that I made while in Las Vegas trusting that our reader's will believe in my honesty. I'm presenting these plays so the reader's who may have been interested in my plays can compare to their own and perhaps feel maybe a little better if they were on the same side of a winner or some consolation if they were on the same side of a loser. Nothing more. I hope this information will be accepted in the manner and circumstances under which it is being presented. Perhaps some insight can be gained by the reader. So here goes.

I made 21 plays while in Las Vegas, 18 in the NCAA tournament, going 14-4 and 3 in the NIT, going 3-0. All plays were for 1*. I only considered bumping one game to a strong 3* play and that was Georgia Tech (-4) over Nevada but decided not to, and even though Tech barely covered, this was the game that B.J Elder was injured in the first minute and a half of the game, so I was very fortunate. Listed below are the dates, games, and results.

3/15/04
Toledo/Marquette Over 153 (Win)(87-72)

3/16/04
Missouri (+3) vs Michigan (Win)(64-65)

3/18/04
North Carolina (-7.5) vs Air Force (Win)(63-52)
Syracuse (-2.5) vs BYU (Win)(80-75)
Depaul (-2.5) vs Dayton (Win)(76-69)
Arizona (-2.5) vs Seton Hall (Loss)(76-80)

3/19/04
UAB (+1.5) vs Washington (Win)(102-100)
Boston College (-1.5) vs Utah (Win)(58-51)
Memphis (-2) vs South Carolina (Win)(59-43)

3/20/04
Manhattan (+7) vs Wake Forest (Win)(80-84)

3/21/04
Cincinnati (-1) vs Illinois (Loss)(68-92)
Xavier (+5) vs Mississippi State (Win)(89-74)

3/23/04
Marquette (-3) vs Boise State (Win)(66-53)

3/25/04
St. Joseph's (-2.5) vs Wake Forest (Win)(84-80)
Syracuse (-1) vs Alabama (Loss)(71-80)

3/26/04
Duke (-7) vs Illinois (Win)(72-62)
Texas (-2.5) vs Xavier (Loss)(71-79)
Georgia Tech (-4) vs Nevada (Win)(72-67)

3/27/04
Oklahoma State (ML/-160) vs St. Joseph's (Win)(64-62)

3/28/04
Xavier (+7.5) vs Duke (Win)(63-66)
Georgia Tech (+5) vs Kansas (Win)(79-71)

There are still three games left in both the NIT and the NCAA tournaments and although I have no opinion on tonight's NIT games, I will be viewing them looking for an edge in the championship game. As for the NCAA tournament, I have made one play already for Saturday and will continue to review throughout the week to see if I can formulate any further selections. Wishing you the best of luck in the future.
