Aloha all,
Sorry so late on this one, but I needed to get confirmation about the team and how they were looking and feeling. From the phone call I received, everything is all good. Great!
Well gang, if you followed me last week in college, you know that I only had one play and that was on the Hawaii Warriors ov Fresno St. for a big 5 Unit play, and they did not dissapoint. In that game a situation existed for it to become such a strong play. Today another situation which existed in the past will be put to the test to see if the changes and adjustments to it, will have any bearing at all on performance and outcome of games Hawaii plays on the road.
As we all know, Hawaii is almost an automatic go against because they do not travel at all well. In fact, Hawaii is completely a different team on the road compared to at home. This problem existed for years, and was just accepted as faith because of where we are located, or the fact that everything as far as traveling and its plans were set in stone by the school's admin. Because of this, no real attempt was made to adjust or to address this problem with a serious effort.
June Jones who realizes how devastating the effects of traveling had on the team, not to mention that it hampered his plans for bringing Hawaii to national success and recognition, could not be attained, if games played on the mainland in front of a national audience was lost, and lost so badly. Coach Jones being such a perfectionist, etc. made addressing and adjusting to this situation one of his top priorities.
Well, I'm going to cut this short, because I am short on time here. But, HAWAII , is the play here for 4.5 Units. Hawaii has seem to found its timing and grove, as evident from the blowout of Fresno St. Their leader Timmy Chang had an awesome day throwing 5 TD, 300+ yards, and no ints. June Jones feels confident that he has finally settled into the machine which is his offense this year, and I agree based on his proformance last week.
In addition to him, another plus that the Warriors can take advantage of is the return of their play makers now becoming active. Rec. Chad Owens return was huge and his impact was evident in last weeks routing of Fresno St. The defense, although they lost its top linemen, was reinforced with the return of Lui Fuga and Travis Laboy. Everything is running as well as it can for the Warriors right now and they are showing it physically, but also mentally and emotionally.
The problem with traveling, as I mentioned earlier was a top priority for June Jone to change. He has been working on changing this since the start of the season and was going through the adjustments after the USC game, by not returning home but staying in Calif. until they had to travel to UNLV. Then again their last road trip to Tulsa, the results and adjustments which could only be done and adjusted based on how and what happened before, during, and after these first 3 road games. He has stated that he is confident that the adjustment that he made in regards to this game and the travel plans, should result in very noticeble and positive outcomes. This will be the farthest ever that Hawaii has had to travel, and knowing this and how important this game is for Hawaii he pulled out all stops to try and get the team there at full strength and with ill effects. June Jones demanded full authorization in modifying traveling plans as he sees fit. One of them was to leave Hawaii earlier than previously done in the past. He stated, that at time we may have to leave 2 days earlier than we normally did. Because of the confidence in his ability, no one in the State of Hawaii , not even the University is going to get in his way , eventhough it was to get as drastic as, having the team on the mainland longer than they were on the island for that week of the game.
He adjust stop over proceedures, where and what state he would stay in, before they took that short flight to the game. For example, the team will fly and stay in Texas, to recoup, then take a short flight to Calif., Nevada, or wherever it is they will be playing at.
Theres more guys, and I will update you on everything, but I will end this here so that you will have time to read this before the game starts.
Aloha and good Luck. Play Hawaii for 4.5 Units to Win
