I know first games can be misleading; and good coaches make good changes after g1;

Still; It seems like Buckeyes and Men from Troy are playing at two different quality levels; that even home team; visiting team rookie qb; first big game on road; that Ohio State just has too many weaknesses to stay within 2-3 touches with Southern Cal

What am I missing..??

i dont think your missing anything... this looks like last years ohio state team... weak teams like youngstown st, troy, and ohio were getting in the backfield all the time

yesterday was the samething...navy was getting in the backfield plenty of times and putting pressure on Pryor

LOL. What have you seen in Ohio St over the past couple years, or yesterday, vs. what you've seen in USC over the same period of time, that would have you make such a ridiculous statement?

As the biggest OSU fan on this board, I generally don't advocate wagering disportioniately on one game, but make your largest wager on USC. They are going to ass-rape OSU.

USC has won nine straight games against the Big Ten, by an average of 20+ points per.

It wouldn't surprise me to see USC win the game by 4-5 TD's or more. How is that OSU defense going to stop USC's rushing game if they can't handle Navy?

Barkley looked like a seasoned vet in their game yesterday. Remember that he's just 18 years old and was playing his first game as USC's starter.

I am telling everyone that this kid is NOT the usual first year recruit trying to find his game. He won't even be the least bit nervous about going on the road to play in the Horseshoe. He is NOT your typical freshman. Far from it. FAR FAR from it. He is a once in a lifetime special player.

Football is in his blood like you have never seen before in your life. There is no place for butterflies in his stomach. He is not worried. But also know this, there isn't an arrogant egocentric bone in his body. He is the real deal through and through. Sincere, honest and supremely confident but not overconfident. Special.

I hope your kidding about your 4-5 touchdowns.....I mean...if the line is USC -28......I dont think Vegas will get one bet on USC.....infact if you want....I wont even be greedy...give me Ohio State +21 for $5000.....I will gladly take my chances.....Im guessing the line will be USC -7.....and Im still taking OSU......Im not saying they are going to win...but I see a tight game next Saturday night....

You can't compare Navy's running game to anyone else. The reason USC is going to destroy OSU, is because OSU's offensive line is so pathetic.

As great as Barkley looked, he won't look nearly as good and as will still roll. It has nothing to do with QBs and the WRs/RBs. USC will destroy USC on the point of attack on both lines. Their o line will control OSU's Dline and USC will control OSU's oline.

This lead to turnovers and short fields.
38-13 type of score imo. I hope like hell that I completely wrong, but I don't know how anyone objectively could look at this and say that it won't be a blowout.

Being 6'5 265 I may be the biggest OSU fan in the forum (sorry BTD...lol) but I totally agree....I asked my book last night what the maximum possible bet I could make next week on USC that he would allow...

This won't be like last years game, because USC is considerablly different (smaller, but faster on 'D" & more geared towards the run on "O") but this game will get ugly...

You have me on the size (6'2 175), but Tressel has to make some changes or we are going to see one of the most talented player in OSU history go to waste.

Think you guys are way off here and it's not the homer talking. No way is USC going to go to Columbus with a true freshman QB in a night game and wipe the field with OSU. Despite their BCS woes (people forget they came within a play of beating Texas last year), this team has tons of talent at every position and is a legit top 10 team. USC has more talent but the QB situation and the homefield are huge factors. Game looks about like a toss up to me.

Here is the main problem. They lack an identity offensively. They have a spread-option QB and they are forcing him to play an I-formation pro-style attack....and it isn't working. The offensive line is bad. Cordle stunk at center, he stunk at guard and yesterday he proved he stinks at tackle. Browning is a lost cause and Andy Miller looked exactly like he is....a TE playing tackle...The WR look like they are going to be ok.

The defensive line is so grossly overrated it is scary. Has Doug Worthington done ANYTHING at all to be worthy of the title of captain? Thaddeus Gibson takes over Alex Boone's title from last year as being the most overrated player ont he team. Brian Rolle is a nice player, but he is a DB playing MLB. He has no protection from the interior of the d-line and he'll get abused next week....Anderson Russell is not very good either....he got beat for 2 TD's yesterday versus a team who threw the ball 91 times ALL YEAR last season...Saturday vs USC is going to be ugly. I am staying far away from the Shoe next Saturday. Sitting there yesterday was bad enough.

Jim,

I don't think anyone in the past 4 years has questioned Ohio State's talent. It is strictly coach/schemes. USC & LSU both said they knew everything Ohio State was going to run.

Ohio State has had 15% more players drafted than any other school since 2000 in the NFL draft, 77 players, USC next at 66. The bottom line is there is talent, but Jim Tressel has no understanding of how to maximize it.

Even the argument that Boxslayer makes about the DL in the SEC is correct, but I don't think it applies to OSU. The problem is under Tressel OSU is soft and doesn't have the killer instinct. When teams used to come to OSU under Cooper, we would win by 30/40/50/60 points. Now, we need a 2 pt stop and punt return (Vs OHIO U) last year to pull out these games. Also, yesterday JT showed how bad of an in game manager he is. Why would you not kick it to go up by 18? Why bring in Bauserman, when TP was really rollling. Its not like he bringing in JB this week.

At this point, I may not wager on the game, holding out hope that OSU can win, but I will remove my emotions near game time and roll with USC.
