Is there any way that Texas can win this game. I don't think so. First off Mack Brown is worth at least a touchdown every game for his flat out stupidity. Secondly Vince Young simply is not that good. I know he ripped up Michigan last year in the Bowl game but they have no where near the athletes on defense that OH State does. Then best part of all they are playing this game at the horseshoe. I am taking this one early and hard. I love having the better coached team in any battle. Trust me. I was on NC State and remembered why I don't bet on badly coached teams no matter how good their athletes are. Anyone see this one the other way. Opinions welcome.

I usually do not bet many games until around the third week... only Georgia and Mich State during week one so far this year.... my point is I am very selective until I see a few weeks.... that said, I can not lay off of this one.... this is an very solid play. You are right about Brown.... he is 13-4 ATS on the road against capable defenses (24 points or less) over his tenure at texas.... and two of the four covers were when he was a dog of 17 points and another against Tulane. For some reason, Texas always seems to come out over-ranked at the beginning of the year. I do not have stats on it, but it seems like Texas (over the last ten years or so) has failed to live up to their preseason hype more so than any other team.... anyway, the bottom line is Ohio State lives by the defense and Mack Brown dies by it. Very probable and solid play in this one.

I will limit this to an average size play for one reason.... although I feel Ohio State gets them here, I do believe it will be low scoring and that means one critical turnover could dictate the outcome.

Good luck,

I asked myself this question, "Can Texas be good enough to beat Ohio State at the Horsehoe in primetime?" And in all honesty I don't think they can do it. I'm on the Buckeyes.

Ball on the 18, 3:40 to go, down by 4. Vince Young under Center, Greg Davis calling the plays, with mack Brown overseeing. 92,000 screaming, you want Texas? My Point Exactly.

I heard a nice stat today. Does anyone know Ohio State's record the last 6 prime time games at the horseshoe. I believe it is 6-0. All we need here is a win. At least all I need is a win. The better coach and defense win this one. One turnover could be the difference and I will take my chances that Ohio State forces it. One more reason to take Ohio State. SPECIAL TEAMS.

agree that the play here is OSU but i'm not sure i want to be on either side that bad although i'm sure i will end up on OSU for a little. to me the obvious play here is the under. it opened at 47 which you can still get some places. i think it will settle around 43 or so. and i'd be shocked if either team scored in the 20s. my two big plays this week are Cinci +19 (down to 17.5 now) and the Tex-OSU u47.

6-0 at night against unranked teams....all I hear is "The Shoe This...The Shoe that"

Texas has the edge on both lines. Texas has the edge at QB and RB.

Ohio State doesn't even have a clear starter at QB (Tressel will play both.). They have one of the best receiving corps in the country, but Texas returns 5 of 6 in the backfield from last year.

Oh but Hawk can run a 4.4 40...yea my ass. Derrick Johnson ran a 4.5 at the NFL camp.

tOSU is going to stack the box and make VYoung pass. Once he burns tOSU on a few passes, their whole defensive gameplan will go to shit.

I am glad to see everyone on tOSU...

I'll take the ML.

Whatever Vince Young did to Michigan's defense don't mean nothin'. Northern Illinois just did to Michigan's defense this week, too. Ohio State LB's are fast, and their secondary is way better than UT's receivers. You need a gameplan (i.e. Coaching) to beat Ohio State, not just athletes. Ohio State has athletes, too. Plus, Ohio State is running the spread offense, and their point totals will be much higher this year. I don't see UT keeping it close.

As a Texas-Ex, I wish I could agree

with my Texas cohort in the above post...but I cannot.

Although I love the University of Texas and Austin (Those were the best eight years of my life and, no, I didn't go to grad school), my business is laying $11 (or sometimes $10 1/2 in today's market) to get back $10. And while the Longhorns are far from the inept team some on this board are painting them and certainly have a chance, I have played Ohio State early and often.

Texas is 3-10-1 straightup vs Top 10 teams under Mack Brown (Five of those losses have been to Oklahoma), while Ohio State is 6-1 under Tressel vs. Top 10 opposition.

The Longhorns may have pasted La-Lafayette, but the fact of the matter is they have some relatively-inexperienced, not ready for prime time players in key roles (Bobino at LB, Aaron Ross at CB _ how can he cover Ginn or Holmes?). As far as proven offensive weapons in BIG GAMES, only Vince Young really qualifies on the big stage.

While Texas has an inexperienced LB corps, the Buckeyes are experienced and good at LB and are certain to keep a "spy" on Young. Somebody else on offense for Texas might beat Ohio State, but you can bet that Tressel won't let it be Young.

All the edges seem to be with Ohio State IMHO.

Good luck everybody,
Paul

Think TX has won 19 of 21 on the road or something like that...don't know but hope they get beat as I don't see how they will lose in the Big 12 this year.

In my opinion, Mack Brown can wrap up the Retard of the Year award this week if he doesn't play that monster RB, Henry Melton, alot in this game. That guy can fall forward for 3 to 4 yards a carry. Give him the ball up the middle to soften up the OSU linebackers to give Young some time to work. I was laughing my ass off watching highlights of that kid running through herds of tacklers. I'm not saying ULaLa's D is even in the same league as OSU, but NOBODY is taking this guy down alone.

being from baltimore,i hate ohio football...but...

fast and athletic linebackers will try and force vince young to the air.....

home field at night...

having to prep for 2 distinctly different qb`s....

ohio st`s offense actually has some balance this year...

ted ginn...

ted ginn...

ted ginn...not to mention their other receiver...who`s name escapes me at the moment...

this is basically the same ohio st team that finished as strong as anybody in the country last year...this team has that certain indefinable something....like the team that beat miami several years ago...

and tressel over brown.....that clinched it...

ohio st is going to be an extremely tough out for everybody this year....home or away...

Vincent Young will not play one down in the NFL @ qb ... he is a great ATHLETE and would be playing wide out @ the Univ of Iowa as Tate is the far superior qb

The pt made about Michigans defv ... they have no speed and N Ill moved the ball @ will

Young will ge exposed for what he is this Sat nite ... a great ATHLETE playing out of position and his lack of passing skills adds up to an Ohio State victory

Texas definitely has a chance, but I'm with the fellas on OSU. I think they are an all around better team than Texas and they have the all important homefield. Everybody talks about Ted Ginn (rightfully so - he is the real deal), but don't sleep on Santonio Holmes. He is for now the better all around receiver of the 2 and is a big time difference maker. I think both teams struggle a bit to run the ball but OSU will make a few more big plays on defense and on special teams to pull this one out. I do think the under could be a play here as well. OSU 23 Texas 17
