Wow. You guys with Cal are in great shape because I love USC. This is the difference between sharps and squares. I would have played -13.5 for a nice bet and now I can get -7. Every square in America is gonna be on the Trojans while every sharp is gonna be on Cal.

Relying simply on what you think others are betting or doing is just plain dumb. If you can't handicap a game on your own then you shouldn't be betting. I couldn't imagine sitting around all week wondering if the "squares" are on Cal and betting my hard earned money on USC simply because everyone else is on Cal.
After a game that everyone likes on the forum wins there isn't a whole lot of discussion about it.... but when it doesn't cover everyone comes on here afterwards saying what a square play it was and going against the line move resulted in an easy winner... BAHUMBUG!!!
Betting simply on this principle will end you up with a negative balance. :toothless
Here would have been the losers from last week if you simply bet against line moves or the consensus:
West Virginia, Temple, Iowa State, most Illinois bets, East Carolina, LA Monroe, Colorado, most Washington bets, Akron, South Florida, KState,
Miss State, Tennessee, Col State.
No I am sure I missed some and obviously there were probably very similar results for betting against the consensus, but to do this without any handicapping or with this weighted very heavily is sure disaster in the long haul.

hno:Nicely said OMT. I will usually not bet a game unless I am leaning that way when the lines first come up even if I know the line will move in a certain direction. Take the Cal line for instance. I had a mental note that if it came out anything more than +7 I was on it.
The Purdue line is a bit different. When I saw it at -9 I knew that would be quickly bet up over 10 after there beating of NDame. There was nowhere else that line could go. I took it simply for that. If I want to get off it I can wait till later in the week and catch +13 or more, maybe even +14 with a half point at Skybook. I might get off half the bet if I have a decent lean to Purdue. I might let it ride. Most anything I decide at this point should turn out good.
I am a little concerned about them coming off a big victory over NDame with some tough opponents coming up after Penn State but I will monitor that over the week.
All the other games I posted, the lines have gone against me and I expect them to only go against me more. At worst, if I pick 8 games right when the lines come out, I will have 2 with poor value. And I always pay attention to key numbers. Purdue at -9.... The chances of it going to -8 or lower was almost nonexistent, while the chances of it going to -10 or higher was very good. The decision to get down early or wait will make the difference in 5-10 games a year for me. :biglaugh:

THIS IS NOT THE SAME USC TEAM, THEY HAVE ONE WEAPON AND ONE WEAPON ONLY IN BUSH.
PROBABLY THE TWO BEST WIDE OUTS IN THE COUNTRY ARE NOW GONE, THAT WILL BE HUGE. USC DIDN'T SCORE THAT MANY LAST YEAR, AND THIS YEAR THEY WILL MAYBE SCORE 24.
VS I THINK THE BEST PLAYER IN THE COUNTRY IN RODGERS, AND THE BEST HEAD COACH IN THE COUNTRY, AND HE ISN'T ON THE USC SIDELINE.
