SS, sorry to be a nitpicker, but I noticed the title of this thread is copied from another contest (the NFL one), but the post-up amount for the NCAAF contest is actually $250.

Cheers,

When is the final week to make picks? (In other words when does the contest end or when is it over?)

Guys,

Don't forget, Midnite EASTERN FRIDAY is the deadline for the Pick 6. the reason this rule is in place is to discourage STEAM players. Please get your picks in by 12 Midinite Tonite.

Here is the thread:

http://www.therxforum.com/showthread.php?t=511153

(In the odd chance that you miss this email, and you do not get your plays in by Friday Midnite, we will allow a grace for week # 1. BUT you will not be allow to take any plays where the line has moved by 1 point or more in your favour, if you do they will be graded as Losers).

Journeyman,

I see that you graded me last week as having a 0-6 result when it should have been "NO ACTION". I have looked at every thread related to this contest, could you point me to any post you have made that clearly says "not entering any plays would result in a 0-6 result"?

Yes, I do recall you saying that not entering any plays in NFL "Pick 4" will net somebody 0-4 (as well as one other contest, I believe it's the Bookmaker Sunday night one; I'm sure SportSavant can confirm.)

It's bad enough that my work laptop lost power on me last Friday night on the road, and I forgot my power adapter. To make matters worse, I was staying at my gf's parents' old home where they don't use a computer. It was a weekend of my gf's daughter's 5th birthday party last Saturday so I never got back to my home until Sunday. Not an excuse but just being honest here.

Anyway, again, looking through the rules below:

How it Works:

-Make 6 point spread selections each week throughout the NCAAF season.

-Choose your games from the list of lines made available in a special folder that will be set up, in the contest section of the site found here.

-Post your selections in the “Lines and Picks Thread” exactly as instructed. (Misposted plays will be graded as NO ACTION.)

-Plays must be posted by Midnight Friday each week. (EASTERN TIME ZONE)

-Plays will be graded based on standard vig, -110 for losers and +100 for winners.

-Contest will be graded weekly after Saturday’s games.

-Lines will be posted each Tuesday evening

-Contest will be held in the in a special folder in the 'CONTEST' section of the site.

-Contest will begin with Thursday September 13th’s games. Earlier weeks will not be used.

Rules and Regulations:

-All plays are considered final and cannot be changed once posted
-Official grading rules will be the same as Betjamaica’s official grading rules.
-One entry per member, per household, per IP address.
-Plays must be posted as instructed, or will be graded NO ACTION.
-Only one post with your selections per day. Maximum 6 plays per day. If you make an error posting your selections, you will be stuck with your error. You may use "Preview Post" to make sure you don’t make an error. There is No editing, You cannot have your error corrected, there will be no emailing to MODS. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR POST BEFORE SUBMITTING.
-EMAILING of plays will be allowed on the final 2 weeks of the contest, and selections will be posted shortly after the Friday night posting deadline.
-If an obvious mistaken line is posted, plays made on that mistaken line will be graded NO ACTION. Should you notice a mistake in a line, please contact the contest moderator immediately. We reserve the right to change the line on any game if there is a mistake.
-Rules are not negotiable. Please do not ask to have them changed
-If there is ever a conflict in the rules, the contest Moderator will have to make a judgment call, that judgment call is final
-During the course of the contest, from time to time, the contest moderators will be required to make a judgment call or rule on a situation, their ruling will be final and will not be open for debate.
-TheRX.com and BetJamaica.com reserve the right to change, add or delete any rule. (These decisions are final and not open for debate)
-Any contest suggestions or criticisms should be posted in the Q&A thread or emailed to sportsavant@therx.com and journeyman@therx.com
-Anyone is free to email wilheim@therx.com and rick@therx.com if they have any complaints about the contest or the contest moderators.

From all of that, it looks like that "since I did not post plays as instructed, it should be graded NO ACTION (or the equivalent of missing a week, going 0-0)."

If somebody could point me to any post (not edited after this post's publication) by anyone that says missing a week would net me 0-6 in this particular contest, I would stand down and accept the 0-6 result. Otherwise, it should be a 0-0 result, in my honest opinion.

Regards,

* CalvinTy

if that were true then, someone could build a huge lead thru say half the season...then not post any other plays to maintain the same winning %.

that would clearly not be fair or in the spirit of this contest.

Calvin, I didn't write the rules here, I will defer to SS when he comes on...I was sorry to see you had a problem getting your picks in < it isn't liek i wanted to give you an 0-6, obviously you didn't mean to miss both contests and had a problem getting online.

I believe you probably had to realize that missing would result in 0-6, like Blue says it would be against the spirit of the contest to not post and sit on a lead (I realize that was not your reason)...perhaps everyone will realize it wasn't your intent and they will let you make it up.

Understood, blue. It's just that this is a *SEASON* long contest, and we all are liable to not being able to submit some picks in a particular week of this long season. In Journeyman's baseball season contest, the leaders have had plenty of days where they did not make any picks. The thought is that anyone else could overtake them if they "just sit on their great record/plays". Not only that, while I was not happy about the 0-4/0-6 result in both contests, I did tell myself, "I can understand the need of grading somebody 0-fer in many free contests out there; but in a post-up contest, it's unfortunate that you essentially are required to make every week's plays without *any leeway*. Maybe that's why there are not many post-up contestants...?"

Thanks, Journeyman. I do not want to ask anyone to "let me make it up". I knew I was royally screwed in two contests where a miss is bad; the Bookmaker one where I knew I'd go 0-4, and I remembered that your NFL contest would also net somebody 0-4. Then last night as I was making the plays, I saw the standings and just was like this:

:monsters-

when I saw the 0-6. That's all. I don't know how to come up with a fair solution to everybody, but I just know I wouldn't the first and last person to miss. It'll be interesting to see how it goes at the end of this long season if it affects me and anyone else who have missed one "week".

calvin, you obviously didnt miss the week on purpose. and, i dont have a problem letting you make up the picks in another week. the only problem i see is the precident that it would set...if you are allowed to make up the picks then what happens in say week 11 when the guy in the lead misses a week...that's all i'm saying.

Calvin-- You seem like a great guy and an asset to the forum, but Blue makes a very valid point. No picks submitted almost has to be graded as 0-6.
