Hey guys I came home and wanted to watch some of my many saved computer porns. Now, I try to open them with Media Player which I have always used and has always worked and I got the following message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

I don't quite understand this b/c the files have always worked, but if you could let me know what to do I'd appreciate it.

Vaulted Treehouse the reason your porn is not working is because somehow you deleted the codec that it uses to run them.

Go to www.divx.com
and download the divx codec.
while your at it download the divx player too, its a lot better then windows media player.

Reboot your computer and your porn will be good as new.

I knew there was a use for me on this forum

No dice my man. Tried everything you said and I'm still getting the same message.

i imagine that they're complete files (if it's an incomplete .avi (xvid/divx) it won't play), so go download the svcd and xvid codecs. update to wmp 10. other than that, i'd suggest trying VLC media player, a free program that does everything WMP does. -> http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

That worked thank you, but I'd still like to have Media Player work as well.

Vaulted, this is what you want... It does all the work for you... It's a program that identifies the Codecs you need for the file your trying to play.

I've tried it after downloading it and it seems to recognize the problems but is unable to fix it (or I can't figure out what its saying in order to fix it.) I'm actually very good with computers but this one has me stumped. I appreciate all the help guys, I may just end up using the vlc player instead.

Tough issue.....

I have seen some machines where something with WMP gets screwed up & I haven't heard of a fix. It's just one of those weird Windows things where you use another program or rebuild the machine. I've seen it in Win2k & XP, so it's not OS specific.
