I'm looking for advice on the re-hab.

I've had the surgeory, but the recovery is slow ! Going back to the surgeon, seems to accomplish little, it seems an oppurtunity for the doctor to order more X-rays, and throw me some Percocet for my troubles. I don't need either.

The next step is physical therapy. Is it worthwhile ? Can I do it by myself ?

I'm not a fan of doctors.

The slip/fall accident dates to 1/27. No pain now, but walking is slow, but improving, going up stairs is the most difficult.

I seek advice from anyone that has been there, of course if anyone is a doctor, here, that's cool also.

Sorry to go off-topic.

Yes I have Doug.Fractured ankle and dislocation.I would advise going for the therapy and do the work.Only cheating yourself if you don't. Mine was slow healing and I still occasionally limp and am frequently sore as I have pins and plate in still. My understanding is if you don't regain flexibilty during rehab you never will.I lost quite a bit of mobility as I can't run, just walk nowadays.

I have broken my ankle twice and sprained it another dozen times. It only gets worse from here. I would recommend getting a brace and wearing hitops for any sporting activities.

Thanks for replies gentlemen:

I guess I'll proceed with physical thereapy ;

Keith: I had a screw and plate, screw was removed, plate remains, likely permanent.Your story gives me the greatest motivation !

Teaser and Railbird: I have an "aircast" , but it doesn't fit into my sneaker. High -tops are a good suggestion, but I'm just looking to walk normally once again, not compete. I'm only 40, but to be able to break into a short run would be nice.

If I were a back-up guy on a MLB team, at my age, I'd call it a career -ending injury.

I'll be happy to get back to close to where I was, I'm not there.

Thanks for help,

Doug

DougJ-

Been there...still have the plate and pins (and no the metal detector does NOT go off).

Do the therapy. I did and wish I worked harder because it still bothers me a bit.
