I did say there is more racism in the elderly crowd. However, if you think Obama doesn't need the elderly vote, you're just as wrong as you are about me. Just because some elderly folk are more inclined to be racist, doesn't mean you discard a whole demographic. I know Obama at least knows that much.

Actually, they probably consider themselves to be intelligent, and I'm certain they feel they have more wisdom. So I doubt mocking them will be perceived as anything but "elitist".

Once again, we'll just have to see how this plays out.

If that's supposed to be the flagship commercial in Obama's "enough is enough" attempt to get back on track, it's pretty weak ... not an effective ad in general, and does run the risk of pissing off older folks ... I was expecting / hoping for better.

Talking to the base? Well, not in the traditional sense. Stated differently, not what you're thinking. A national surge can only happen when swing voters jump on board.

However, since America really is a right of center country, they are essentially talking to their base, in a non-traditional but more accurate description of their base.

McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

In a similar vein I guess it's an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn't know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it's like to navigate New York's highways.
