This will be useful information if I ever encounter a political race in which I can vote for someone who is a practicing Muslim.

I'm 48 years old and live in Florida (11 years, with 37 years in Texas before that). But ya never know. Maybe in my lifetime someone who is a practicing Muslim might run for elected office within my jurisdiction.

keith ellison won here in minnesota and was an openly practicing muslim.

i hate religion though, it's a sign of weakness. all muslim, christianity, buddhism are is shades of different colors.

in the grand scheme of things all of the religions are worthless and bring about more problems then solutions

it wouldn't be a big deal if he didn't lie about it.. Don't lie to the public about your faith if you are running for office. The other thing that should worry people if he lied about his faith why did he lie? I seriously question where his early campaign donations came from when no one gave him a shot.. I mean community leader, to less than 3 years in the Senate, to Dems Presidential Candidate? The only other guy to do something like this that quickly was JFK and he had his dad's dirty bootlegger money..

I guess if he's a Muslim, that takes the Reverend Wright crap off the table. Hopefully the Republicans will apologize for that, if they want to try and portray him as a Muslim.

I guess your guess is right, except for the frothing Obamaphobes have only a few weeks left and then it's back to the drawing board...seeking some kind of candidate for 2012 that might actually inspire conservative voters - given that big spending and big government John McCain has left most of us kinda limp.
