Russia could use bases for its strategic bombers on the doorstep of the United States in Cuba and Venezuela to underpin long-distance patrols in the region, a senior air force officer said Saturday.

"This is possible in Cuba," General Anatoly Zhikharev, chief of the Russian air force's strategic aviation staff, told the Interfax-AVN military news agency.

China just recently is reported to massacred a bunch of monks and protesters in Tibet. And there's this little thing called Tiananmen Square. They own a good portion of our debt and are one of our top trading partners. So, we're already in bed with dictators and brutal regimes.

An olive branch to Cuba could possibly give us one less enemy in our hemisphere. How is that a bad thing?

There are many many people living HERE today who suffered unspeakable horrors under Castro. I'm sure it still sucks over THERE.

Evil is evil. I was just responding to your post urging Willie to get over it. Some shocking childhood stories have been shared with a friend of mine by her parents who grew up there and eventually fled Castro.
