Obama inherited the turmoil filled middle east and an America that just made the blunder of blunders in foreign policy during the Bush Administration. I'd say given that he did well.
Obama should have kept the troops there, yes. It was a mistake on his part but the Iraqi government didn't want them there. Damned if you do damned if you don't situation.
If you think we were right to invade Iraq you don't understand global politics. What do you think happened to the thousands and thousands of Iraqi soldiers after the white house disbanded them. Bush said oh they will disintegrate. So the moron thought they would just go away right? No. Among the many ISIS members especially higher ranking ones are former members of the Iraqi army.
Now you have a bunch of highly trained, skilled, angry young men that have a score to settle with the United States. Oh yeah the shit show that Obama inherited lol.
Obama made some mistakes but he inherited an absolute shitshow. And what you don't understand is that when somebody takes over as President they don't automatically start with a clean slate and hit the reset button. They are working with the aftermath of the previous administration also. Obama had to clean up Bush mess..911 attack and then the catastrophic decision to invade Iraq. WOW!
I'm not a big fan of Obama. I just know you guys are way off on his assessment of him but you guys just go by what you google or see on tv or your biases and that's ok.
I'll concede that Obama's foreign policy wasn't great. But who's was? Bush's? The fact remains that the U.S government has had the worst foreign policy for years and years now.
I want you to do the right thing and admit that we never should have invaded Iraq. Enough with the bullshit excuses about human rights violations and supporting terrorists. That's in many many countries including one we are in bed with. Enough with what Saddam was doing. He had a strangle hold on that country and that was a good thing! Don't act like we were there with good intentions and wanted to free the Iraqi people of his tyranny. You really can't be that naive.
Concede it. We never should have invaded Iraq. They were not a direct threat to us. Only to our interests in the region, oil and political, geographical positioning and that is not enough to make it right.
High ranking military officials and leaders around the world told the white house we shouldn't invade. Bush did it anyway. Military officials told the White House we should disband the Iraqi army cause thousands and thousands of highly trained military men to be jobless and angry. Bush did it anyway. What do you think those young men in the Iraqi army are doing now? They are screaming death to America. Would many of them hate America anyways? Perhaps. But would they be joining up ISIS to attack American interests and behead journalists etc if they were still in the Iraqi army under Saddam's dictatorship? No.
Makes me laugh that you people are whining about Obama when Bush was the worst President by far. 911. Invading Iraq. He fucked up this country and fucked up the middle east. Bash Obama all you want. But when you focus on him when other leaders like Bush made way worse decisions for America you are obvious in your bias and agenda. And that's all I see he is agendas and bias. No objectivity. Can't talk about Bush as much as we do Obama because he's a Republicant.
Agendas agendas.
I'm a patriot first, Democrat second. I wonder if some of you are Republican first. Patriots second. I know the answer though. Say what you want I maintain my stance.
