The first of our two MLB picks against the total is also the one I’m happiest about – although I still wouldn’t recommend more than a fun-sized bet on either. Even if the A’s are one of the worst hitting teams in the majors (No. 28 on the FanGraphs WAR charts), the Rangers are acceptably average (No. 14) at the plate.
We’ve got two decent pitchers to help us out. JP Sears (4.62 xFIP) has the Under at 5-3-1 for Oakland, although with a fortunate 81.3% strand rate; Dane Dunning (4.13 xFIP) has the Under at 16-10-1 for Texas. Life could be worse.
