Oakland vs Houston on 09/16 by Craig_Brown

Handicapper Analysis 0
Adrian Martinez (4-4, 5.59 ERA. 1.53 WHIP) got lit up in his last outing to the tune of seven runs and 14 hits over just 3.2 innings in a 10-2 loss to the White Sox. On the flip side, the favorite to win the AL Cy Young at odds of -125, Justin Verlander (16-3, 1.84 ERA, 0.86 WHIP), will be getting the start for the AL West-leading Astros after spending the last few weeks on the 15-day IL with a calf pull.

This is such a mismatch from top to bottom it’s impossible to make a case for the A’s in this spot. Houston swept the last series between these two teams, outscoring Oakland 21-8, and now they have their ace on the hill to do it all over again. Let’s lay the 1 ½ and don’t sweat it.
