The penthouse meets the outhouse on Friday night as the visiting A’s stagger through their season and wind up in Houston on Friday night to face the AL West-leading Astros. Houston has the second-best home record in the American League, trailing only the Yankees, but was stunned last month by getting swept by the lowly A’s in a three-game set in Oakland.
Don’t expect a reoccurrence of that minor miracle as the venue has shifted to Minute Maid Park and the pitching matchup is decidedly in Houston’s favor with Luis Garcia (8-8, 3.93 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) battling a struggling Adam Oller (1-5, 7.63 ERA, 1.79 WHIP). Oller is in his first big league season at the ripe old age of 27 and is a converted starter but the results have not been kind as he has allowed 15 runs over his four starts.
The moneyline is north of -300 at some shops so we will look for a good old-fashioned blowout here and lay the 1 ½ in case things go sideways for the Astros.
